If you don’t hear back by 4/21, you didn’t receive a direct appointment correct?

I have not chimed in here for quite a while. I can tell you that no more non-selects will happen today. If you are still listed as an active candidate then you are still being considered for one of the remaining direct, Falcon, or USAFA PS slots.

Seriously ?!!!

DS was hoping to follow big sister's footsteps (USAFA 2019 grad), but received TWE today. He's off to Embry-Riddle AZ, majoring in Aeronautical Engineering. It's been great watching these fine young minds shape into leaders of the future, best of luck to all.

Yes, seriously. I work in USAFA Admissions. There are some here (including moderators) who know who I am, and there are others who know they can trust what I say.

Today was the major release of non-selects and that concluded early this morning.

Thank you very much for posting this information. Are you able to say whether anyone still being considered for a Direct Appointment will not be notified until after May 1 when others have declined existing offers? Or any information on additional timing?

If you are unable to say, it is perfectly understandable. These posts are much appreciated to shed clarity on today's activities.

We bubble-sitters would love to get some feedback from your crystal ball. Would be great for the portal to have a red LED "now serving" display system in place that shows where candidates are sitting in the queue. Thanks for your insight!

DS just checked and also Non-Select. He will also be off to Embry-Riddle Prescott for Aeronautical Science (Professional Pilot) with 4 year AFROTC scholarship. I'm confident they will both do very well with this option!

@Insider, IF you were able to put a number on it, what percentage of active candidates after this morning receive one of these 3?

For all of us who are bubble-sitters: Let's take a breath and count our blessings and look forward to the next few weeks. From @Insider's post, it sounds like the next big day for admissions will be after May 1st. There are still many undecideds listed on the main 2024 appointment thread. It's been a long road for the candidates and we parents who support them. I'll sit here on the bubble next to my DS and be thankful the door isn't closed for this year.

You have been/are so supportive and encouraging to all the applicants. Thank you!

@HawkeyeMom, we are here to support each other. Hope your DD doesn't give up and she builds on her strengths and tries again next year!
Thank you so much. She had pretty much made up her decision to take advantage of her AFROTC scholarship at TAMU. She will have 41 hours of dual enrollment credits after this semester; she is wanting to move on. So... unless she changes her mind, Go Aggies! and she will enter the AF from ROTC. Best wishes to your child- I hope this is the year for you all!

For all of you who received TWE's today, I am praying for you and your families. My chest is tight and my heart literally hurts reading these updates. A year ago my son was in the same boat. After working toward his dream for years, he was devastated to receive a non-select letter. Things seemed dark for a while. After much prayer and thought, he decided to go to prep school and reapply. He was fortunate to receive an appointment this year, but he says that even if he did not, the past year was the best thing that could have happened to him. He grew a lot and made lifelong friends. Although everyone will choose a different path going forward, we believe that you are exemplary young men and women and will make a difference wherever you land. We are grateful for your hard work and hearts to serve our country!

God’s plan🙏 Thank you for your prayers.

Thank you for your encouraging words. They mean a lot. In 2014, we went through another TWE with our oldest (Coast Guard, in that case). This morning I saw my DS portal before he did. It was like a punch in my stomach. But then, when he saw it, although sad, he said: "Don't worry, ma. Not knowing was worst. This cleared the path." We truly believe that God knows better. He loves him more than us. So, off he goes with a Type 7 AFROTC to Embry-Riddle Daytona (that will convert to Type 2). He will pursue his Aerospace Engineering degree, he will earn his AF officer rank and then go on to serve his country. For him, it's just a different path to the same goal. To all of you feeling hurt today... I hope tomorrow brings a clear path to achieve your dreams. You've proven already that you are exceptional young men and women. Blessings to all!

I feel for your son, and all who have a TWE coming tomorrow. Our family has been through the TWE process many times. Daughter went to Summer Seminar 2019, had Presidential and Senate nominations, top scores, straight As in difficult high school courses, college work, great letters and leadership, triple-varsity athlete (captain), etc. Not sure what USAFA was looking for this year. I only know that one of the nine other candidates on the Senate slate was better, at least 100 other candidates were better in the Presidential category, and at least 150 were better on the NWL.
