After finally submitting his USNA application, the status shows as "incomplete" even though he filled out all sections including emails for recommendations and pasting in his essay. Is this because not all recommendations have been submitted? He can no longer "Open" it, but there is now the "Review" option.

My DD's status didn't show complete until her SAT scores arrived. As soon as they received and logged the application showed complete

Don’t hold me to it, let me check tomorrow. I have stuff going on personally but recall admissions let us know this week or late last that there are IT issues and to just keep progressing while they work them out.

At this time, the application process is little more difficult than it has to be due to incorrect progress and what seems to be a bug in the application. My DS made some spelling errors when he was filling out emails for recommendations. He said he cleaned it up, but the Recommendation section shows multiple entries for same teacher with spelling errors (despite deleting them). Another example is the transcript. The school admin says she uploaded it, but it has "x" next to it. I'm pretty sure math teacher submitted the evaluation, but that also has "x" next to it.

Do not be alarmed and hold off on calling/emailing/contacting admissions about the issues.
They know that there are problems and even when there aren't, there are delays between when you submit and when the portal shows it.

To repeat what has been posted here many times: The Portal is NOT AUTOMATICALLY CONNECTED to the uploads so do not expect the portal to immediately reflect when required submittals are made.

DS had sent emails to admission a couple of times a month ago but didn’t hear anything back…

Just reinforcing here that it's nothing wrong that your DS or DD has done. Looks like programming issues in the portal that should get sorted. I can confidently say this as the Progress box has an X next to SAT scores received yet 1/8th inch below it lists the SAT scores -- that were sent from College Board. Clear programming issue that should be a simple If/then programming fix that should get done soon. Additionally, same issue with application re. original poster and NCA post as DS English rec was submitted but appears as an X. Problems have persisted beyond one month. Hopefully on the verge of getting sorted. Semper Gumby . . .

Somebody in the IT Department (if there is such a thing) at the Naval Academy needs to get on the stick. The technical problems exist not only within CIS (candidates' portal) but also within BGIS (Blue & Gold officers' portal).

If she used the email form on the admissions website and got no answer, she should resend, there were some problems with the website in June/July. Alternatively, in her portal there should be an email address for directly emailing her regional contact as well, and there is also the inquire (at) usna.edu email address posted on the contact page, as well as the live chat widget on the admissions site.

Do you have new (new than Monday of this week) information?
I have direct contact from Admissions regarding a CURRENT ISSUE (mid-August 2023) with the portals.
Sending emails or other queries right now is not helpful, they know that there is an issue and you are very far from even early
deadlines. Please give it a few weeks of grace and if there is still an issue, then reach out to admissions.

In addition, two of the Admissions lead team members are out for training all this week. Waiting this out for a few days/weeks is recommended. IT will get it figured out. Reminder that this is still very early in the application cycle.
