Induction Day Motivation!

Also kinda funny, this year Plebes don’t have to carry or even wheel their issued gear from Alumni Hall to Bancroft. It’s being transported by trucks and then carried up on deck by the detail. Not sure why.

Several people in the know said they are not carrying their stuff bc of the heat. Not sure that is correct but we saw the detailers carrying the big bags up the stairs by the mid store after they were transported there by a truck.
 
If it’s hot and humid it’s plebe summer in Annapolis. There has to be a method to their madness to have gear transported by other then over burdened plebes.
As a 2024 mom I had few images of DS. But one I loved was him carrying a bag 1.5 times his size and not being squashed. He was in full on go mode and it was awesome. I wish the 2025 class the most plebe like summer possible.
a return to normalcy is so needed for all.

Mad respect for detailers… hauling plebe stuff (apparently more this year 🤔). Up before, and to bed after plebes. Unsung heros of Plebe Summer!! Good luck to PS ‘25 detailers!!

Funny. On I-day 2015 I was standing next to a brand new 2nd. Lt. as the Plebes were doing the final march into Bancroft. I asked him when the misery begins. He smiled and said "When those 2 big doors shut."

This is also the reason for the shotgun - 2024 is an anomally with their plebe summer/year and can explain the attitudes and poor behavior of many 2024 students.
 
WHOA…just looked at the weather. Hot 🥵 with a chance of humidity 💦!! I wonder if it’s already a ‘black flag day’??
 
Sorry..not feeling too bad for the Plebes in this heat and humidity -- keep in mind, its only been the last 20 years or so that Bancroft Hall has been air conditioned. Nothing like laying in your rack in Bancroft, sweating yourself to sleep. :rolleyes:
PS -- I'd do it all again in a heartbeat.
 
Per my 3/C on the Yard, lots of Detailers motivating plebes off of the busses, he saw them on his way back from class. He also had someone refer to him as 'sir' for the first time. Warped his brain for a moment.
So now it's really real-- plebe no more.

I'm jealous of CaptMJ's afternoon office, can't lie-we are projected to hit 92 with 44% humidity. That's pretty high for us, now if only the monsoons
would start. 🤞

I fully expect I will not get a lot done except thinking in that office location. 🥵

Yeehaa … last Friday I traded up on my 30 year old Stihl farm boss 029 … and got me the Cadillac of Power-2-weight ratio saws … a brand new Stihl 261cm … I am in heaven …

… going outside to have fun now …

I don’t recall seats going this far back before. It all looks like plebe seating. Is anyone there? Curious. Doesn’t look like social distancing thing, either. Idk 🤷‍♀️

Those seats are very far back. Last one that I attended in 2007, I had a seat on the curved ramp to the right of the main doors.
 
The seats for the soon to be Plebes are way up in front of the person standing in the center aisle and are cordoned off with yellow tape that doesn't show up in the photo. All of the other seats to the rear are for families/spectators. I cannot post a clear pic with my phone, but now most of those seats have blankets and other misc stuff sitting in them as place holders awaiting the 7pm ceremony this evening.
 
DS sent me this from his classroom. He said the parents are starting to settle in and mingle and look anxious. He actually said he is sort of glad we didn't go through all of this in person. He thinks our goodbye at the airport and the hugs when he got back were enough for him. And he knew I would have cried in T-Court. Either way, we ended up where we were supposed to be and I am so happy for the 2025 families and their mids.
Also, happy and proud of the Detailers who are honing their leadership skills and getting back to normalcy. It's a great day on the Yard!

Just checked Flickr, and in a couple of the photos the plebes have their white works blouses off. Back in the day, we only had those off on black flag days. But there are plenty of other reasons that could be happening, and my experience is now 32 years ago, holy wow...
