I get it that the posts here are in good humor, but it reminds me of a more serious thought that came to mind as we learned about the death of the Ambassador and consulate staff in Libya and attacks elsewhere... we Americans commonly seem to attribute these extreme reactions to mobs reacting out of third world/ third century ignorance. And their military efforts are easy to lampoon after their drubbings in the last century; but we should not forget these same societies are successfully testing long range missiles, have nuclear capability, operate sophisticated aircraft and electronics and are willing, it seems, to fight and die. That they don't have blue water ships is just another technical problem. We know that technical problems have technical solutions. The threat to put a ship off our coast may just be rhetoric, but these 'fools' bear watching. The stealthy thing to do may not be to send a fleet of large military ships to our coast, but rather small numbers of small 'civilian' ships. Kinda like the Somali pirates ... who don't have blue water capability either, but manage to operate in blue water far out into the Indian ocean. I often think some of these leaders over there are just modern Hitlers, with the same plan for world domination, disguised in turbans.
