Is my PCSM competitive for 19OT01 Pilot

Hi,

Wondering if I can get some insight on how competitive I am for the next board date in January. I scored well on my AFOQT, Pilot 88, Nav 83, Acad Aptitude 95, Verbal 92, Quant 90. The TBAS was okay; the directional orientation was cake, the horizontal and vertical tracking was fine, and I felt good on the multitasking except I think I messed up the addition part of it (possibly misread directions?). Without any flight hours, my PCSM was 48. I have 6 hours to turn in that will bring my score up to 59.

In terms of the rest of my package, I got a 3.5 GPA in mechanical engineering and I have great leadership - one of my internships I got to interview, train, and manage a large team of people.

PCSM isnt the best but not the worse either. I would try to get it higher with either by retesting both the AFOQT and the TBAS and or putting in more flight hours. Remember now, they take the scores from the last tests you take so if do worse, they will go with that. YOu have a nice GPA to make up for it however. My son got a 95 on the pilot AFOQT and a 70 PCSM score without any flight hours. He wound up with 98 PCSM because he had over 200 flight hours. My point being that 59 is way below what some people are getting although there are plenty of people who get pilot spots with a 59 PCSM score. I wouild try to get a least a 70 if possible. Remember however, the PCSM is only one factor that goes into getting selected. I would imagine if you do well in all the other factors, having a lower PCSM may not be a big deal

Those OQT scores are actually pretty good. I know many pilots with OQT scores lower than what you have. I'd recommend against rolling the dice on an OQT retake unless you absolutely have to. You only get two lifetime attempts... Don't rule out Army flight school either. Wings are wings and it is easy to switch airframes later.

Tbpxece he is too far down the line to jump over to Army.

cpri223, remember PCSM is only a portion. Your cgpa is strong, but how is your PFA? How do you rank within your unit? How did you rank at SFT?

Yes his overall AFOQT scores are really good. But unless he brings in more flight hours, there is no way to bring up the PCSM score without doing better either in the pilot selection of the AFOQT or doing better with the TBAS. As Pima did say, the PCSM is only a portion of the overall picture. HOwever, if that his biggest concern and he wants to get it higher, he is going to have to do something

She* haha. I've graduated already so I'm applying to OTS. I'm not in great shape now but confident i could still pass the PFA. I'm a strong runner so I can definitely max that with a bit of training. I don't think I would retake the AFOQT, but I would probably retake the TBAS. This board is requesting candidates put down two specialty preferences on the TFOT. I'm thinking I will wait for the next board date in order to increase my PCSM to boost my chances of getting picked up for pilot. Unless going for the first board of the year has better chances.

CSO is another great option.

Maxwell is brutal in summer, so you'll definitely want to be in shape.
