Is this an LOA or something else and a few related questions...

I received this message in my portal:

"We are pleased to advise you that the Admissions Board has recommended you for admission to the United States Naval Academy with the Class of 2025. You are guaranteed an offer of appointment if your remaining admissions requirements are satisfactorily met."

Is this an LOA?

Also, I've already received my 3Q letter from another academy, but the DodMERB piece is still showing as outstanding for USNA. I assume things will eventually catch up and there is nothing for me to do on my end? Finally, does anyone know what the odds are of receiving an appt with an LOA but no nom (my MOCs nominated me for the other academies).

Thank you.

Yes it’s an LOA. Congrats.

They may find you a nominating source if you don’t have one. Search the site - this is a popular topic.

How long has your application been in "Review" mode before this msg came?

Congrats to you! I might mention via a very polite email to your MOC's that you are in receipt of an LOA to USNA. They may have had room on a slate or someone decline or drop due to medical disqualification. Just my 2 cents. Must have been a great message to read!!

How do you know when you’re 3Q? Will the academy notify you?
You will know when you’re physically and medically qualified (you can see on portals if you passed the cfa and are qualified by dodmerb) and you’ll know if you have a nom, but I don’t see how you’ll know that you are academically qualified. If you get an LOA, you can assume you are but those are limited.

Another question, do you get a notification of a change in your application status through email? Or does it just pop up on the portal? Thanks.

The LOA just popped up in my portal. At this stage, I'm one of those on-the-edge-of-my-seat applicants who is checking my portal on a daily (hourly?!) basis.

Thank you for the info. I am in the same boat as well. Patience has never been a strength for me unfortunately!

DS is in the same boat (no pun intended). He received his USNA LOA and nom before Christmas, but still has DoDMERB outstanding on his USNA application. (He is 3Q at another SA as well.). He decided to ride it out for awhile and email his admission counselor if the DoDMERB doesn’t populate soon.

For those of you who have received an LOA...were you able to take your SAT/ACT and submit your score? Or did you receive LOA without SAT/ACT?
