It's March 28, 2016 and still CPR...

Someone, I think it was in another thread, explained that the "top tier" of candidates get their notification early. In the same way, the very bottom of candidates also received TWE initially. Each successive "round" of TWE and appointments the candidates are closer to each other in terms of what the admissions folks are looking for, so to speak. So at this point, the lines on the graph have nearly converged and you could literally jump from one line to the other based on the smallest of factors, some of which are likely out of the control of the candidate (i.e. It ain't all test scores or physical test results at this point. Sure they are a factor, but other factors like geography, gender, race and who knows what else could be THE factor at this point.) Regardless, I have convinced myself and my son that staying in this game is a real testament to him and his accomplishments. It's going to be a razor thin margin at this point and regardless, as many have said in other threads, he needs to hold his head high and realize he got very far down the path. Whatever is going to happen, he can't change that outcome at this point. Neither can I. Honestly, I am not sure God himself could. It's just fate at this point.

I could be entirely full of crap, but I have been reading alot since that is what you do when you are on the island this late in the process. I login to his portal at least twice a day, and I believe he does as well. His BGO does at least once a day as well. We are all eat up with anticipation.

My son has an appointment to USMA that he must accept or decline by April 15....same day USNA says they'll let him know. We called USNA and asked what to do in this situation. Admissions rep said that because accepting an appointment is not binding, he could accept, then later decline if an appointment comes through from USNA. That seems simply wrong, and I'm sure USNA wouldn't like it if candidates did that to them! Son is now deciding between USMA and an NROTC full scholarship at an exceptional civilian school. If USNA comes back with an appointment, he'll need to choose between that and whichever of the first two he puts on top. But this April 15 date is awful when it's the same as the decision day for another service academy. Anyone else in this situation? Any advice?

My best advice is to one, be thankful you have this problem :). It might not seem like it, but having to choose between a number of good options is never a bad thing. Second, have a discussion with your DS or tell him to do some soul searching and figure out which branch is his preferred choice. If Navy/Marine Corps (depending on which option your son applied for) is his favorite, start making forward progress with the NROTC Scholarship in preparation for receiving a TWE from USNA. I'm not saying by any means that your DS should expect one, but if it does happen, you already have Plan B (and a great one at that) in motion. If Army is his top pick, then he should accept USMA. The way the above post is worded, I am assuming your DS is leaning towards Navy. If I were him, I wouldn't pick an Academy just because it is an Academy. I would do ROTC in my chosen branch first. ROTC and an Academy gets you to the same place in the same amount of time (Ensign/2nd LT in four years). ROTC and Academy grads are equalized once out in the fleet. People care mainly about an officer's performance, not their commissioning source.

Best of luck!

Same position as 2020boy. This is my second time applying to SAs as I am a college student. My application for USNA has not been reviewed according to AC.

My DS is still CPR and still "items waiting to be processed" on Marine option ROTC. NY-23.

Wow! Just got off the phone with USNA Foundation program. Very, very helpful and great info. They have received 40 appointees so far, but not all have accepted. They are anticipating 15 more appointments until 5/15/16. So if you are CPR at this time you are still in the hunt!

GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY!

That's really encouraging! Thanks for passing that along to all us CPRs. We are starved for any morsel of news here!
