AND I GOT THE SCHOLARSHIP! woohoo!!!
I'm starting to look at cruises!!!!!
OK.....tuition, etc. covered by AROTC Scholarship....Room and board covered by an Academic Merit scholarship.....I'm starting to look at cruises!!!!!
And if your DS breaks a collarbone before contracting? Congrats, bmunder!
pieterm and uniform 419, congrats to ya'll, too!!
Boy if that isn't a tempting thought, it crossed our minds a couple times when our first son went through this.
Your son has probably already gone through Dodmerb like so many have.
Now is the time you feel like covering them in bubble wrap to keep them from getting hurt before school starts. That doesn't end once they start, our older son injured his ankle last spring and we all held our breath, luckily it wasn't as bad as first thought and he was able to continue, went to Airborne during the summer. 2 kids from my son's class have been disenrolled for medical issues that came up during their time at school. Seems like the worring never stops, MIP's, Traffic Tickets, Grades, PT, and injuries, we have decided to put that cruise off until graduation, sure sounds tempting right now with all the cold weather.
Nice, looks like you are one of the lucky ones that has been given a chioce of 2 schools. For informations sake, are the offers 4 year or 3 year AD.
Congratulations
Agreed! And yes, he completed his Dodmerb in early December. We will definitely wait on the cruise/vaca, but are hanging on to the thought of it.
After 2 children going through Catholic prep schools, and the older a Jr. in College with no scholarships, we sure are looking forward to a break in the $$ flying out the door, though!

Well, my DD called the scholarship officer at her #1 school and they did not have any info. Her status changed last week. I do not find an ROO listed at the school. Is the ROO in a central place for the state or region?
The ROO is the Recruiting Operations Officer, each AROTC Batallion will have one. They may be just listed as the Recruiting Operations Officer, they should be listed on the batallion's website for each school. I would have your daughter call each school on her list and check with them, the school that is listed on the offer should be able to tell you if it is their batallion your daughter has received the offer for.
Just out of curiosity, how do the 3 year scholarships work? Pay the first three not the fourth? the last three?
First of all, I GOT MY 4-YEAR SCHOLARSHIP TODAY TO MY 1ST CHOICE
Second, I got $20k a year from the school.
Total cost there is $53,000 a year, with tuition $37,000.
The question: what's the best way for me to move around these funds so I can pay the least? I've read AROTC scholarship can be put towards room and board if you want it too? Any advice on how to work this out is appreciated.
