Haha yeah now that I'm chasing my goal at a thousand miles per hour in another direction I barely have time for this forum. If USAFA decides to take me in without a doubt I'll drop everything I'm doing for them...but I'm not going to slow down for them either.

yep

i think this thread had a lot of active users who are waiting for a direct appointment. with less direct appointments than fingers on our left hands, we are focusing more on our other options and current enlistments until 01MAY.
 
This is probably a question for my ALO, but,

What happens to my enlisted service contract?

Is it tacked on after I graduate the academy?
 
Good question Paso. I was wondering the same thing. But everything will be explained once we receive our BFE's. They have a LOAD of information in them!

As long as you stay at the Academy, your Academy commitment supercedes your enlistment contract.

According to the folks at the P, the Appointee packages are not yet back from the printers, but Admissions sent out Offer packages on Friday. Caligirl got hers today. I'm assuming you will receive it tomorrow.

Your portal changed though correct? Have you spoke with Crista Hill? If not, I'd recommend doing so.

Yep the portal changed and I verified with the Capt.

Bonny is my counselor, I'll call tomorrow.
 
Yeah just do that. Man, you're making me nervous and what not even though we really don't have any reason to be! Our CC's notified us, the squadron and base wide emails were sent out and our portals have changed... Besides the fact that we haven't received anything via snail mail which makes me nervous, we're fine man! .........right? Lol

Hahaha, I would say we're set. :cool: My CC said he got a vague email along the lines of "an Airman in your squadron has recieved a nomination to the USAFA Prep School..." and my portal changed. He knew I was the only one applying, so there isn't a doubt in his mind. I'm just starting to get nervous about the reality of it all! I don't know about you guys, but I feel like this process has taken so long and it's almost surreal that it's actually happening. How about you all?
 
JAPAF, I'm right with you. When I got pulled in the CC's office along w/ my First Shirt/Superintendent and my Ass. Flt CC, I didn't know what it was for... When he told me, he shook my hand and I asked him, "You're kidding right?" -It still seems a bit shady to me. I don't know how I got picked up, seems like yesterday I just enlisted because I had no other options (college is expensive) but now look. We're on our way to the P this summer! I still think I'm dreaming...........

Definitely. I arrived pretty late to the party, but I had the Academy in mind since I enlisted. To see the opportunity actually present itself is simply amazing.
 
I literally found out about LEAD in FTAC. When the woman was talking to us about the program, she made everyone in our class to raise their hand, and she asked us some simple questions (who's under 23, who has no dependents, who's single.) At the end of her series of about 6 or 7 questions, I was the only one in a class of like 30 Airmen whose hand was still raised. Little did I know I'd be where I'm at today...

Your portals are correct, however, and you should receive mail from Admissions shortly.
