Leaders Encouraging Airmen Development

This makes me very sad. Every year dozens, if not hundreds, of candidates wait anxiously for months on end, hoping beyond hope that they will be notified of an appointment, and only a select few are chosen.

Then they get to the P and suddenly decide that they don't want to "deal with the crap"????

I wish they would do more research before wasting these precious opportunities. I realize that this is much easier said than done. I think that anyone who has the proper motivation can get through anything if they want their goals badly enough.

This isn't a fair statement. Unless you have been there and done that you cannot even imagine what it is like. There are many excellent people that leave the academy or prep school every year. They aren't bad people for figuring out it isn't for them. They were more qualified than the candidates who didn't get the spot. Period. NOBODY is 100% sure it is right for them when they enter because NOBODY has been through it before.

Fair enough! I apologize if I offended anyone.

I was told the same thing about the prior-enlisted acceptance rates, but I'm just trying to figure out why people DOR. Like why did the number drop from 240ish to 200ish. That's a pretty big decline in my opinion...
Normal attrition rate at the Academy averages around 20% or a bit more, I understand, from I-day to graduation (i.e., over the entire 4 years). In light of that fact, going from 240 Cadet Candidates to under 200 is not so surprising. I have not, however, seen any statistics on P school attrition rates.

The funniest ones are the people who come here and are surprised to have to do military stuff at a military school.

Most of the direct entry prep school people I've met here are recruited athletes. They get their slots because they're good at sports. They get lied to by coaches, telling them that this place will be a cake walk and only make mention of the fact that USAFA has Division 1 teams. I know one person who only came here to play Division 1 golf. Never had any dreams or aspirations to go to USAFA, but it was the only D1 golf school that was looking for him. Another guy who left here already actually got told he'd only work 2 hours a day and spend the rest of his time playing his sport.

Congrats and PCSing

Congrats to those who made it in.

I don't remember exactly what the deal was with moving my stuff to the Academy. I think I DITY/ PPM moved my stuff to my home of record. There isn't much room for extra stuff on the hill as fourth classmen, so bringing your awesome dorm set-up from your previous life may have to happen slowly over four years. The move post graduation was only available from the Academy. I got told I had already used my move from my home of record as an enlisted airman.

Best of luck to the Direct Entry folks.

Recieved my letter of acceptance today.

All is well.

Well, almost.

Just a little confusion filling out the forms. My base is stand alone, but some of the services are detachments of another nearby base, making some of the boxes a bit difficult to fill out.

No worries, I'll figure it out.

All it asked for was your MPF's address. And you had to get that signature filled out to start the process when you were put on a code 5. That's the same place. Unless your referring to something else.
