Leaving rotc will not necessarily affect entrance to other officer programs.

I have been looking over a few threads and some have people who are unable to continue on with rotc or drop and consider ocs in the future. Let me tell you one thing, if you leave rotc, THIS WILL NOT AFFECT YOU GOING INTO OCS OR ANY OTHER OFFICER PROGRAM. That being said if you leave for a good reason and not because of disciplinary reasons. I recall a thread that I posted where one of the posters said dropping Army Rotc will give me an re3 code and may prevent you from ever serving. Well that post is not true and is full of crap. Some people on here who left afrotc or didn’t get selected for field training, you can still apply to ots. Being contracted will not prevent you from ever serving. When I did paperwork for Marine PLC , all I had to show was a dd785 which pretty much says how you were in the previous officer program and if you should be recommended for another one. That’s all I had to show and I was given a 4 which wasn’t bad. This had no effect. So don’t lose hope if you are unable to continue with rotc, you can still have a shot at it in the future!!

Hey, I know you posted this like 2 years ago and may never see this, but thanks for this post. I got a 3 on my dd785 and quit AFROTC because I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. Got the 3 just because I was contracted--not because of anything else. My grades were and still are great, and my PT scores were almost maxed. I quit over 2 years ago and am graduating in a year, so this gives me hope! Thank you again.

Best of luck! Someone in my ROTC unit left and ended up doing PLC program, and another is applying to OCS with a letter of rec from my unit XO. There is hope! They recognize ROTC isn't the path for everyone.
