Letters Of Assurance

MoC get sent a copy of LOA's, but you might want to bring a copy just in case.

When I got to my congressional interview, the first thing they asked was why I wanted to go to USAFA. I would be prepared for a well thought out answer to that because I always knew I wanted to, but apart from getting the best AF Officer training I could, I couldn't really articulate the other numerous reasons. Having a LOA helps because that basically means as long as you don't screw up big time you will get the nom. They also ask questions about how you would handle getting orders that you don't agree with;how you would go about carrying out orders you didn't think were right. Those crazy philosophical questions are enough to get a grasp on a person in 15 minutes... it's crazy

Got the loa this week. dropped it on the whole family during thanksgiving dinner. rep. coble, here I come!

it definitely does make thanksgiving much more meaningful

I am new to the forum, so yeah... I have yet to receive an LoA, but i do not know if it matter at the moment though. I have received two nominations and have everything in for USAFA, so my guess is that it is all just a waiting game now. I won't have any disappointment though if I do not get accepted. I would love to go to USAFA, but if I don't get accepted, I have a Naval or Air Force ROTC scholarship to choose from, both to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida. Like I said, all a waiting game now...

Embry-Riddle is my backup, too. I need to get on that application... and I need to submit my AFROTC app.

i was confused by that and still am. what does that mean???

There was a prelim app that basically puts you in the system for what you want your major to be, and your colleges.

Then you have till January whatever to get the paperwork required.

waiting

I received an LOA in November and my nomination on the first day of December. I have not received any communication from the academy since their notification of receiving my nomination. Every other part of my application is complete. I would like to know when I can expect to hear from the academy concerning an appointment. I know that should wait patiently, but if someone could give me a general time frame of their own experience it would help.

I consider myself an expert in the subject of waiting for an appointment after receiving a nomination and loa. After my nom came and I already had the loa, it was about two and a half or 3 weeks. It's coming, trust me. I know the waiting sucks but hang in there. And congrats you should add yourself to the list in the 2013 appointments thread.

if you get an LOA before you submit your CFA, does it matter what scores you submit? or do you just need to complete the file and thats it?

i didn't think getting an LOA without the CFA was possible. Aren't the only things you can have missing to still get an LOA the DoDMERB physical and a nomination????:confused:

I was under the same impression as btown, that you could only get a LOA pending a nomination or DoDMERB. In the event that you did get a LOA without a CFA I would still score well. Surely if you fail every event, they will revoke the LOA>
