Light year?

Hey all,

I was talking with my local Congressional rep. office, and he mentioned it was a light year in terms of applicants. I was wondering if anyone else has heard something similar?

If it is technically true or not, consider that your MOC might have been speaking only for their district/state, and that this may not be reflective of all districts/states. I’m surmising that MOCs don’t have visibility to or knowledge of application statistics in districts/states beyond their own.

It's definitely not a little year for my state. My senator said he had 400 applicates. But hey that could be good for you!

My guess is with less stuff to do more people were able to finish the application.

It wouldn’t surprise me...I actually don’t know of anyone in my state who is currently applying to any service academy, but I do go to a smaller private school.

I live in an area that usually doesn't produce many candidates to begin with, but my ALO also said that (in my area) applicants are scarce this year.

My ALO who typically gets candidates from 5 schools in my area has 2 people including myself this year. I’m in MD though so it could be a bunch of navy people and nobody is going to him for USAFA.

What district are you in? I got a nomination in MD

Yes they scheduled me for an interview on the 22nd. I had my interview with Warren this past weekend.
Was your interview with Warren quick, they were late for my DS and he only ended up with 10 minutes! It just didn't seem like enough time to get to the "meat".

I interviewed with 3 USAFA grads and talked to them for maybe 10 or 15 minutes. I think that amount of time is pretty standard for nomination interviews, especially when they're moving through lots of candidates.
