LOA's for Class of 2015

Concerning an LOA and nominations, if you have an LOA a nomination will be found for you somewhere.

That is not entirely correct. I would assume that the LOA is at least contingent upon a Nomination (since an LOA was received this early). There are mathematically only a certain number of noms, so there have been cases of people having an LOA and a nominating source not available. Make it easy on yourself: have a good Nomination packet / application, practice ALOT for your interviews and apply to all nominating sources. After that, hope and pray for the best.
Good Luck

Congrats to the candidates with LOA's!

For candidates who do not get an LOA - DO NOT get discouraged! Most cadets got in without an LOA (including mine). :thumb:

I can technically understand that. But I also heard that most LoA's get nominations, not necessary 100% but most. There are much fewer LoAs than nomination slots. That is important to remember. It will be unusual for any district to have more than 10 LOAs. But there are as least 10 nomination slots in a district. Like someone else posted here, why would your MOC block a candidate if the Academy already wants you? Unless of course, you don't follow the procedures from the MOC, miss the deadline, or screw up something in the process. That will piss off the MOC. Please don't make those stupid moves but be diligent to follow the nomination procedures.
A LOA is not only a letter to you, but is also to your MOC (to help nominate you).

Congratulations to all who have gotten the LOAs!

PS: My son got in without a LOA this year. And I read that for 2015 they are more restricted of numbers of LOAs so don't get discouraged if you don't receive one.

My liason officer told me mine is in the mail dated July 22nd  Hopefully I will get it Monday.

MALO told my son that he was not considered for a LOA because he has everything done (Presidential nomination, everything in, DodMerb qualified)- a complete file. LOAs are a conditional acceptance. If everything is done there is no need for a conditional acceptance.
MALO said he has a great chance to get a final appointment when the Admissions Board conducts its first meeting in early September.

My file is complete as well - Presidential nom, medically qualified, all green check marks. My Coordinator said finishing it all showed commitment and was a huge factor in why I got my LOA.

All you guys that have received LoA's, you have all completed everything on your profile including the CFA correct? Because the only thing I have left to do on my profile is the CFA and I can't seem to contact my physical education teacher so he can administer it for me.

is there a point for the LOA if you have a principle nomination?

What, did you get one?

LoA + principle nomination means you're very likely to be attending, so it's still nice to have an LoA. I mean there's a chance that the admissions board doesn't like you but your senator/congressman might (giving you a principle nomination), and that would screw your chances of earning an appointment, so yes, I would say there is a point.

well my congresswomans person said he promises me a principle nomination...but i dont know if i can get an loa since my physics teacher still did not hand in my SOE and I still must do my cfa since i failed in the running section, and im still working on my second statement. also, my medical will be ready sometime in august....but since only a few go out early, the rest go later, maybe my regional commander took a liking in me.

You're pretty lucky that your congresswoman promised you a principle nomination this early...definitely relieves the whole admissions process by a lot.

What was your running time by the way?

Nope not yet, but my MALO set up a meeting with me in 2 weeks. I hope I receive one:)

Sure does. I wonder if the "congresswomans person" has informed the Congresswoman and the other applicants that he has already chosen one of the principal noms? Don't most of the Congress people hold off assigning nominations until at least October/November when they have had a chance to review all the applicants? I have to agree with Peter, this method certainly relieves the stress and uncertainty of the whole admissions process by a lot.

I highly doubt I will receive one, but it I guess it doesn't hurt to be hopeful. I would be extremely surprised if I receceived one, but congrats to all who did:)

Really? From reading all of your posts, you seemed to be a really qualified person...high SAT's, ungodly strength for a female, and I'm sure you got great extracurriculars and a good academic record to back all that stuff up too.
