March 8th, 2011 AROTC Board

Nah thats my DODMERB page. My scholarship page has been the same since I accepted my scholarship. It says something like you have accepted a scholarship to NC State pending medical qualification from DODMERB.

Okay lol I thought you meant like they had accepted the last wave, so I went and checked real quick but it didn't change, had me scared there for a second lol:biggrin:

My son's page still says the same thing but with his school and he's about to finish his freshman year with the scholarship!
As a side notE, he was Dodmerb qualified prior to receiving the scholarship due to his SA application.

Sorry I got excited and just had to tell people haha

Congrats on the waiver!! Glad your wait is over and you're all systems go for fall.

The only bright side we have right now is while we're waiting for the scholarship notification, at least DS is medically qualified already...would hate to have more waiting on top of all we've been thru already:smile:

Interesting note. Today I opened a letter that is from the DODMERB. It is in regards to my waivers for food allergies and head injuries. It is only asking for food related stuff, nothing about the head injury; this makes me think good things. Regardless, the interesting piece is I am not continuing applying to any other school or ROTC that would require me to continue with the waiver process except for AROTC. And I'm hoping that I am being required to receive more government funded tests because I received a scholarship from the March board. I'm not sure if I did, but I am thoroughly excited to find out if the two are related. Oh senior year, what a blast.

I may have to join the wait with you all again, except in a different way :frown: I found out today that my sprained wrist might not just be sprained but actually torn, and I may need some surgery to fix it. I'm just hoping that I won't have to go through anything with DODMERB :shake:

It's not over yet

It's my understanding that even if you are already DoDMERB qualified you will have another physical in the fall that will explore this new issue.

Hey everyone! Thank God it is finally warming up in the North East :). Spoke to CC today and they informed me that notification of scholarships will begin the 2nd full week in April, meaning, a week from today!!! Just thought I would let everyone know  GOOD LUCK!!! I'm very excited !!!

Good luck to everyone next week!! I will be sending happy thoughts your way and look forward to reading all the updates :shake:

waiting waiting

Hi everyone,
SO my son finally led me to this site so that I would stop driving him crazy about hearing about the AROTC scholarship. I am so glad to know that it will be the second week of April. At least we know. Any idea how the notification will come through? Is it on the site, or mail or phone call?

For my DS the website was updated to say congratulations you have received an AFROTC scholarship. It did not say what type though, said we would get a mailed letter in 2 weeks. Actually the letter arrived within a few days. I tried calling, but did not get a response back. So.... watch the website for good news!

ETA: Sorry I did not realize this thread was not AF but A. I assume they are done the same??

The first sign that your status has changed will show up on the GoArmy/Rotc Status page. The status will change from "You have been selected for an Interview" to "You may check your Dodmerb Status"

If your status changes that will be the first indication that you may have received the scholarship. It will take a few days before the ROO's at the schools you listed will be allowed to inform you.

The next change will be on the same status page and it will read "You have been Awared a Scholarship to the following Schools"

The final and official notification will come in the mail, it will list the school/schools the scholarship has been awarded to and what to do next.

Even though your status page may change it won't be official until you hear directly from one of the schools and you receive the letter in the mail. It is rare but sometimes the status may change and an award is not given, though everyone that has posted seeing their status page change received the scholarship so far.

Good Luck.

Thankyou so much for the info! I will stop making myself crazy...and my son too!

If you don't get the scholarship, does the status on the ROTC status check website change or do you get a call? I imagine that they wouldn't just leave you hanging and would let you know one way or the other.

Well you imagined wrong. From what I've heard, if you did not get a scholarship it doesn't change to anything telling you that you have been passed over for a few months.

Not sure how it will be handled this year, but for what its worth: Last year my son got a 'sorry you didn't get it' letter in the mail in June, the day after he left for basic training for the Reserves (plan B.) Then we got a phone call from the in-state college he decided to go to the end of July offering a 3-year scholarship.

My heart did that double beat thing for you when I read this. What a horrible turn of events. When will you know if you need surgery? Contact Mr. Mullen right and away and seek his guidance so you and your docs can minimize the chances of DodMERB DQ'ing for this.

Bubble wrap --- thing my DS is getting wrapped today:wink:

This is what I'm hoping for too. DS has a great relationship with the ROO and others at his school, we were just there Friday. They are still being sooo supportive and encouraging - so next week or SMP/campus something or other....whatever it takes to get to the goal--comission in 2015.

Oh my! I hope it isn't serious and will heal quickly. My DS is in the middle of his HS soccer season and every time he goes down I hold my breath. He loves playing - so there's not much I can do but pray and try to remember to breathe!

Hi everyone! I finally made an account for the forums...it looks like it is mostly parents on here, but I am a high school senior waiting for my results. I have been reading on here for about a month and decided to join the wait with everyone...looks like its coming up very soon!

thanks everyone for all the great info!
