March 8th, 2011 AROTC Board

It's interesting to note that those awarded scholarships from the last board were only offered one choice and many this time around are being offered multiple choices.

Congratulations to all who have gotten the news they have been waiting for!
Still hanging on to hopes for everyone who hasn't seen the magical change!
Don't give up yet!!!

Clarkson hasn't said anything about the fat lady singing yet:smile: Tomorrow it's back to work so that will help.

We just logged on to find out our son was given his top four choices -- two private and out of state, two public and in state. Still unsure about the duration of the scholarship, but we're just giddy here. We wish everybody lots o' luck and best wishes, and congratulations to all who have gotten the good news. :)

What did you log into to get that info??? Status site just has "awarded AROTC scholarship...etc. Is there someplace that will list schools award is for??

Well I just found out I can use my scholarship at The Citadel and VMI. I still don't know if the scholarship is a 3-year or 4-year. What surprises me is that my stats are complete crap compared to some of the other applicants' on here. I mean, my unweighted GPA is somewhere around a 3.35. I do have a stellar AFJROTC career, but I kind of feel like I don't deserve a scholarship compared to some other people who haven't received one. I have no athletics (past some experience in soccer for a short while, not even a whole year). My PT score was very mediocre.

I second this question:confused:

Your status will change on the CC site when they have entered the school(s)you have offer(s) My DS had the awarded status show up last Friday and today the schools appear for that offer.

I have been looking in the right place, right?

Just an added bit of info:

This was posted about 15 min. ago so it is not regarding the Jan. board.

This could be great news considering so few updates happened during the day today.

My thoughts exactly!!! I'm hoping the best for you guys.

I made the decision #1 school was the only place I'd attend so I'm already enrolled , housing, all that good stuff

Yes, that was me that posted that on the Jan thread. And yes, it is pertaining to the March 2011 AROTC board. That was what my point of contact told me, but it's now 7:30pm ET and nada. Has anyone seen anything different on their status or heard anything? I'm extremely anxious to hear the results as you can well imagine.

Ditto

Ditto here. Our son knew the school he wanted (his #1), so we forged ahead with those plans (after being passed over for the January board) and lined up other financing arrangements and secured his spot.

The scholarship is an awesome reward for some serious, butt-busting hard work, but we knew how competitive it is, how many unbelievably talented young men and women there are out there vying for so few scholarships...So with or without the scholarship, being a commissioned officer with the U.S. Army and pursuing the chosen major/foreign language of choice was always in the bull's-eye and the end goal...no matter the path he had to take to achieve that goal. Having said that...I hope to never go through this process ever again!!! Our son is as cool as a cucumber; however, the parents...an entirely different story. :)

If my status hasn't changed yet, does that mean I didn't get the scholarship??? Is there anyone else whose status hasn't changed? I'm refreshing like every ten minutes but I'm starting to lose hope. Are they coming in at scattered times?

Don't waste time worrying about stats. You have a great opportunity and should take full advantage of it! Obviously whoever interviewed you saw something in you. The ROO my DD met with told her that a good strong personal statement and personal interview can go a long way. My husband couldn't even get a 4 year out of high school but ended up getting a 3 year with not great stats either and ended up graduating top of his military class, went aviation (where he also graduated top of his class) and has had a great military career. Take that scholarship and push forward. Congratulations!!

No, not necessarily. Only a couple of people had their status change today. We expect more to be coming.

My status hasn't changed at all since the original change saying everything has been received. Can't say I'm not losing hope as well
