Only DODMERB can answer that, but based on the information in the DODMERB medical standards, if there have been no medical issues with the spine in the last 24 months, it does not prevent the individual from following a physically active avocation in civilian life, and it is not expected to interfere with the proper wearing of military uniform, then it is likely it would not cause a DQ. This information is listed on pages 32 and 33 of the DODMERB standards that Capt MJ posted. If the candidate has scoliosis (documented) but it is less than 30 degree, would a medical waiver be required?
My DD was remedialed for X-rays to verify the degree of scoliosis. Once done, she was cleared within days..No. Should we get that done before the medical exam if possible?
If within the limits, it most likely won't be disqualified, but follow up examination will most likely be asked. If the candidate has scoliosis (documented) but it is less than 30 degree, would a medical waiver be required?
Let DODMERB pay for them. They're probably going to ask for follow up X-Rays anyway. My DD was followed for a few years with annual X-Rays and DODMERB still wanted their own for reference. My ds reported scoliosis to DODMERB. They ordered x-rays for him because we didn't have any nor did he have any doctor's records regarding his diagnosis. It was very straight forward and easy to determine based on the angle that he does not have scoliosis and he was not DQ'd. You could get them done beforehand to save time but it was an easy process (and 20 min x-ray appt) for my ds.
That link goes to a blank webpage. Here is the Accession Standard. Might be prudent to get an assessment done so the records are ready to launch if you are requested to provide AMI. It also illuminates what the military entrance standard is for your provider, so you know what the guardrails are.

Did CGA ever notify you that they requested a waiver for your DD? I’ve had an LOA since September and was notified of a DQ around Mid January. Admissions never contacted me about requesting a waiver on my behalf.I just wanted to update that my DD's medical waiver was granted. She got notice of the medical disqualification December 23rd. CGA automaticaly requested a waiver. We had to provide additional medical information and February 6th, the waiver was granted. I think that made our experience a six week process. It did help to proactively send AMI before requested. Thanks for the help!
I just found the email that indicated they had requested a waiver. Seems to me that I had to contact them first. I had also sent DODMERB additional civilian tests, despite the technician stating they’ve received it, it doesn’t show up in my portal. Is this normal? My son has had an LOA since December. On the tenth of January DoDMERB requested AMIs for my son on the 30th he was dq'd. He received an email the same day notifying him a waiver had been requested. We were in the process of talking to USCGA and a CIV rep so maybe the sped up the process.
DoDMERB is still recovering from their near total outage from September 2022-November 2022. I received a disqualification in December and it didn’t update in my portal till late January. Just give it some time and they’ll get it updated in the portal.I just found the email that indicated they had requested a waiver. Seems to me that I had to contact them first. Does "Under Waiver Review" indicate that a waiver has been requested or does that mean the Waiver Authorities have your files available?CGA did notify us they requested a waiver. If you go into the DOD website, it will show you if a waiver has been requested.
