Mystery Call From MOC

DS was notified by phone from MOC staff last week that he received a nomination. An hour ago the MOC herself called DS congratulating him, DS told her yes thank you I’m very excited. MOC then asked how did you know? DS said that he received a call from MOC staff and the nomination has been on his portal. Then the call was finished......this is an example of how my DS makes me smile every day, he has no idea if MOC was congratulating him for a nomination or appointment??? What does the SAF think? I think it may be an appointment but I’m unsure, nothing on the portal yet.

My own guess is that the call was about a nomination (unless your DS walks on water). Application deadline is the end of this month so I expect it's still too early for ordinary mortals to hear about an appointment, unless they also have a Presidential or something. Just one man's two cents which is how much I will wager on it.

Actually USMA deadline was January 31, but you may be right about the nom. I just couldn’t figure out why they would call twice?

I could be an appointment. A week ago my Congressman called me saying I received his primary nomination. Yesterday afternoon my congressman called me again saying I received an appointment. It definitely could be the appointment call... let us know!

I really don't want to get your hopes up for nothing but I'm guessing it's an appointment. I got a call mid-January last year from my senator's office about my appointment. Especially since the application deadline has already passed.

If it is an appointment it won't pop up until tomorrow most likely as typically a MOC has 3 days to advise someone of an appointment.

Our son last year got a call from Senator's office re an appointment. Fingers crossed for you guys! Now I'm hooked to know the endgame here.

My nomination popped up in the portal but I never got any phone calls or mail (as of yet at least) about it, so yea I would assume it's an appointment.

Do MOC call a candidate about a nomination?? I'm guessing she was calling about an appointment.

I'd say its an appointment unless she specifically congratulated him for the nomination. Usually, MOC themselves don't call a candidate just for a nomination cause they'll have to make up to 10 calls in total.

I think it really varies by state as indicated in all the posts. Our MOC did not call our DS to notify him of the nom, but our Senator did - he personally called, both times (first time he missed it and our Senator left a VM.). However, based on history, I don't think our Senators notify of appointments.

It would be theoretically 40 calls if you count all the SA's requiring a nom.
