NASS Acceptance?

My daughter was accepted into Session 2. We are going to go ahead and send in all paperwork. How does one "acknowledge the program guidelines"? There is no form that I see to sign in order to send back to them. When I click the link it takes me to a very brief contract.

Thank you for replying. The email says to send back acknowledgement of program guidelines also. I guess I will send the money, medical and travel forms and see what happens. I hope they are still able to go forward with the camps, but certainly understand if they end up canceling.

Like for most things in life, it is best to specific. In which email did you read that it said you needed to "acknowledge the program guidelines" - either by return email or form?

There are no "travel forms" to send back unless you cannot make it within the listed arrival times at Dahlgren Hall (see attachment, 2nd paragraph).

Again, being specific is always appreciated so that everyone can rely on correct information!

I applied the first day also and haven’t heard back either? I also applied for session 3. Is that a bad thing that I haven’t heard back yet?

Thank you for posting this. My DD never got this follow up. Turns our USNA doesn’t show her fully paid even though I have confirmation receipt and bank statement verifying. Waiting for follow up contact from USNA.

applied to SS, haven’t heard back either but I am from a competitive local area/county so i was told it was not likely.
Also, how do you get invited to a CVW?

Yes. Everyone will hear back if they get in or not. Our son is in the same boat as you. I assume there are a large amount of folks waiting to hear.
I agree, with the whole pandemic, the NASS applicants are probably lowest on their radar. They will have to start sending out notifications soon though in order to make their deadline.

You have to apply for them, but I think that they are cancelled or postponed for now.

You can not apply for CVW. Invites are extended by admissions. There has been no statement made about postponing or cancelling SS or CVW's. The Supe addressed summer programs in a youtube video last week. We can all assume, based on what is going on, that NASS is in jeopardy. I was surprised how high on the priority list all the summer programs are.

... I applied for one, and got in. There was a google form, I think that it was one of the first years of doing so

Keep in mind there is another aspect to SS/STEM. They are leadership training blocks for Mids. Important pieces of their development. It’s not taken lightly. None of this is.

Is there any possibility that there will be another program similar to summer seminar that takes place later in the summer?

Don’t count on it. Supe has made clear the three priorities: keep Brigade healthy, commission 2020, bring in 2024. Outreach programs are not high on the list. The summer is typically a well-calibrated season with training for all mids. Just getting done the essential stuff — Plebe Summer, PROTRAMID — will be hard enough without adding optional programs.

What @MidCakePa said. But will add that in some video I saw, there was a mention of extended CVW’s to get y’all in. As USNA would be able to do as restrictions lift. Hopefully that is sooner rather than later.

Unlikely, As MidCakeD said, its not on the Supe's priority list. To be realistic, it probably isn't real high on the priority or needs list , even in the best of times . This Forum gives more attention or emphasis to NASS than it really needs to. Frankly the folks that are on this Forum aren't the target audience, ie. if you have found this Forum, and have had your heart set on USNA all your life ..you are not the target audience for NASS.

I am sure as things unfold USNA and admissions will be looking at the CVW program in the fall and winter. You can’t overwhelm the Brigade with them as it does take time and energy on their part, but will want to have candidates in to visit. As great a program as SS is, a CVW is a much more realistic view of what USNA is. If USNA is your place, then none of this should phase you. If you are on the fence, then talk to your BGO about your concerns and see if a CVW is a possibility. If you can’t decide on which SA, again talk to your BGO and see about feasibility of a CVW. Don’t swarm your BGO now with CVW requests, I am sure BGOs will be receiving guidance on all kinds of info in the coming months for common items such as standard test dates being canx, Girls and Boys state canx (and other programs), CVWs, etc. Focus on what you can control right now... CFA prep, mapping out your calendar and requirements for noms and your app, standardize test prep, interview prep.

So what are the options for those who already had a CVW since USNA NASS is cancelled?
Option 1: Apply
Option 2: Don't Apply

Not to be too flip but if you managed to already have a CVW, you are way ahead of the vast majority of your peers who have not been able to have an overnight/extended look at USNA.
