Naval Academy Summer Seminar 2009

I'm in SoCal and I still haven't gotten a letter, but I called them and they told me I wasn't selected. :frown: But oh well what's happened happened

From a Note from a Regional Director

A portion of a recent Email from one of the Regional directors.

...please do not let this discourage them from applying to the class of 2014. We do use NASS as a marketing program and unfortunately for us, most of our spots go to candidates West of the Mississippi. We also strive to bring in a very diverse group of candidates, focusing on underrepresented cities and states.

Although I sent in my "Decline" form for NASS a few weeks ago, I got this email today:

"I am writing you today because some part of your Naval Academy Summer Seminar acceptance packet missing...By not completing all of the pieces of your packet, we are unable to confirm your spot for this year’s Summer Seminar. If you have not completed your packet by May 15th we will assume you have declined our offer and someone from our waitlist will be selected to take your place! In a second email, you will receive all of the documents from your acceptance packets, including an electronic link to our online payment site on the Payment Form attachment. Please print and mail any missing documents to the below address, and pay online via check, credit card or debit card as soon as possible..."

I immediately sent a reply email as they requested to decline my spot. However, this means NASS acceptances might be sent out after May 15th. Don't give up hope yet if you haven't received one!:thumb:

???????

I applied the day it was available and i haven’t heard anything. I’m expecting a rejection but i would like to know one way or another. I called a few days ago and admissions told me they would all be sent out by May 1st. Also, does anyone know if New Hampshire is a competitive state?

We are in NH and my son went to the SS session last May. I'm not sure about competitiveness for SS specifically but, during a conversation with our BGO earlier this year about USNA, she said that New Hampshire typically has many strong candidates. I assume that's for SS as well as USNA.

For the record, attending SS does not guarantee a spot at USNA. My son is currently wait-listed and we won't know anything for sure until later this month or possibly even mid to late June. There are appointees who did not get into SS but made it into an extremely competitive class of 2013. I wish you the best of luck and don't give up!

Well, we've had enough. I don't know how they expect people to be able to make summer plans if they can't stick to their own schedule.

We've got other plans and we're going for them. Good luck to everyone else!

Yeah, its a little ridiculous that they can't stick to their own schedule.

I guess it is true with every government agency :p

denied

just got my denial letter =(, i'm still going to apply to the school but does anyone think it's a bad move to apply to USNA, USMA, and USAA?

accepted

kk so I was told 2 weeks ago that I was wait listed and than yesterday I got my acceptance letter in the mail! Woot Woot!!! However, to those who are wondering... Mail is still being sent out and you should still wait.

im from new york, going to the second session. anyone else on this thred from NY?

Im from California and im going to session 2 after going to USMA's SLS Session 1...anybody else doing both or from California??

I am from Ohio. I am attending the first session of SLS and then turning around going to NASS 2nd session. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

i just got a letter confirming my payement, i was beginning to think it wasnt gonna come

same...got my confirmation letter. It looks like it was sent out on the 30th of April

confirmation?

Because of a mixup with the mail (letter came to the wrong address), we sent the payment and acceptance back to the USNA a couple of days after the April 15 deadline. They did cash the check, so I'm assuming everything is OK. The acceptance letter said a letter of receipt would be sent, but we haven't received that yet. Just wondering if I should go ahead with plane tickets!

First off to you and all those that were rejected from NASS, keep your heads up. I was rejected from NASS and I felt like my chances of attending the Naval Academy and becoming an officer in our honorable military were slim to none. You have to expect a roller coaster ride in the admissions process. There will be times when you feel unstopable, and there will be times when you feel terrible (at least for me). Stay strong and push through the problems. In the end I recieved my appointment for usna c/o 2013 and couldn't be happier. In a way the rough road that led to my appointment helped affirm the belief that I was up for the test and ready to serve my country. And if you find it's not for you, that's perfectly alright as well. Just something to think about and best of luck to all!!!

I got Accepted

I just got my acceptance email yesterday and I also found out when I called on Monday Night Israeli Time. So I am extremely excited.
