Navy Wins! At last.

Annapolis was hopping this weekend. We got in on Thursday and met a bunch of nice Grads from '69, '71, '72, and '84.
Saw the P-Rade on Friday (and saw a couple of MIDNs drop). My DS was one of the body snatchers, but he had no work in his AO.
DTA was packed with people, what with reunions and 2C weekend going on. We have a Firstie, but missed 2C weekend last year because of Covid, so this year we just followed people in normally off-limits areas. Kind of easy to just walk around unfettered if the kid at the CMOD desk assumes that you're supposed to be there. ;)

The tailgate for our DS' Company was fabulous. We never went into the game, electing to eat steak and drink margaritas while watching under the big tent on the big screen and shoot the bull with alumni. It was really a blast, especially when the MIDNs rolled in after the game was over.
Was Bancroft open?

According to guidance we received on the 28th, only the rotunda was open, but parents were not allowed to roam Bancroft, see their Mid's room, etc. No lunch in King Hall, no wandering about in general. So Mother B was not open in the same way it was for PPW in 2019.

We really treated this as just a normal football weekend. It was disappointing to not take part in the missed traditions, but it was still a wonderful weekend.

A big plus was to meet up with our son's old company's parents. Although USNA shotgunned, us parents didn't! We had a great 'reunion' after the game. We even invited our Mids.

Same here. I was delighted at the tight friendship the mids from DS’s original company have (and loved to eavesdrop on their stories). Doubt they will have closer group of friends with their new company. But you can already start to envision what a 20 year class reunion will sound like. It was very heartening.

Same for us. I believe most MIDN will also have equally good friends from their new companies.

This one will never be resolved - I’ve seen the pros and cons go back and forth for the arguments for keep ‘em together to blow ‘em up for almost 3 decades now. One of the tidal patterns. Meanwhile, USNA continues to produce quality Navy and Marine Corps officers.

Many years hence, someone from these classes will be the Dant, and influenced by their experience or perspective, will either say no to the practice or re-start it, depending on the tidal state at the time.

I was doing a little late-night internet browsing looking for a vintage Navy scarf to wear to a dressed-up (full-on blue and gold wear, Ann Hand U.S. Navy crest pin on jacket lapel [my avatar]), etc., tailgater this coming Saturday. In the course of my browsing I found the below, which I screenshotted and cropped. I am sure the more enterprising among you will figure out where to get it.

I didn’t find anything I couldn’t live without, but I remembered I have a Liberty of London HMY BRITANNIA nautical scarf safely wrapped in tissue in a box, that was presented to me when I was their U.S.N. Liaison Officer for their Pearl Harbor port call. That should do.

Daughter did semester in China. Roommate did semester at France Naval Academy (They have one) . Third took Company Officer while they were gone so they would not be broken up upon return. They spent all four years together.:thumb: Two Marines and one SWO.
