I am hosting three new cadets for the upcoming " New cadet visitation day " aka " ice cream social ". I am asking advices from family/friends of new cadets, USMA graduates and former new cadets. What do you think the new cadets would need for those three hours other than ice cream and cellphone? Any particular type of food or soft drinks?

My DD is secretly hoping to be "adopted" by a family who has a cat.

Thank you for your hospitality! It is greatly appreciated by the NC's and parents everywhere!

I am pretty sure they will eat and drink you anything you provide. I am sure beyond that, a cell phone and a place to catch their heads when the nod off they will be grateful.

Two years ago, my son's host gave him a phone and privacy. He allowed him to stay on the phone as long as he wanted without making him feel he needed to come socialize...the freedom to do that was such a gift.

My son enjoyed that day a lot last year. The kids will eat everything and anything, and will very much appreciate whatever food and snacks you have. He really enjoyed talking to the host colonel, who headed one of science departments at WP. They played video games, and the family got as many phones as they could find so the kids could talk as long as they wanted to their families.

What do you do at WP?

Thank you so much for doing this! I suspect these guys and ladies will eat, talk, update their social media, and sleep. Thank you so much for doing this...also can you take pictures with your mobile phone and text them to the parents? I know that I miss seeing my boy.

The protocol strictly forbids photo sharing but I will see what I can do.

Outside of the phone and some food, I'm sure some peace and quiet will be greatly appreciated by the NC's. Thanks in advance for hosting!
