Hi,
I just read some news about College Board expanding the use of an "adversity score" to judge test-takers' social-economic background.
Does anyone know if USMA or other academies will use this score, or do SA admissions do their own calculations?
I don't live in a high crime, high poverty neighborhood, and I hope this "adversity score" will not make my SAT score lose its value as a result.

I too heard a headline on it but no details.

It might be that no one uses the score. The writing section wasn't used for some years at any college. Frankly I think the board is straying out of their domain.... although it might be useful to some colleges to use it to avoid being accused of using race as a criteria; while not being responsible for the criteria themselves. Might avoid some lawsuits. Just my opinion.

If the academies ever do use it, it will just become another part of the whole person score and may or may not be highly weighted (although my guess is not highly weighted since other aspects are more important in my mind).
