Nominated - now what? If offered appointment, how might I find out?

I've seen on the forum with the list of USNA 2025 appointees that some candidates were appointed without an LOA. How did you hear?! (if you've been appointed and are reading this) To the all-knowing members of SAF, how might someone like me who has a completed application as well as nominations hear? Thank you!

Several different ways this could happen. Our DS did not get an LOA to any SA. He did get a call from Senator's office letting him know about appointment to USNA. For USMMA and USMA the portal updated to reflect offer of appointment. BFE's arrived in due time later, and if I remember correctly he received an email indicating portal change.

Each of those days were awesome.

And, not all MOC's choose to call. Some do, some don't. No way to know which way each MOC will go. For us it was last application cycle, of course this year is new, and well Covid has altered a lot.

MOST candidates are offered an appointment without a letter of assurance. I'm talking 90% here. LOAs are exceedingly rare. Do not worry about not having one.

I'm not. The goal is not an LOA, it's an offer of appointment!

I've just seen many receive a physical letter from USNA (an LOA) and was wondering how those not receiving an LOA might hear back since there seems to be many different ways! physical letter, phone call, email, update to a portal, etc.

How about all of the above ? Seriously, a lot of stories on this Forum, and I suspect all of the above apply. Don't worry - you will find out !
(Bottom line, some hear from MOC; it shows up in everyones portal eventually).

Sounds good - knowing there's truly a variety of options only deepens my curiosity to know. But I must be patient:) Thank you!

Candidates are notified by USNA of appointments and turndowns via their CIS portal. Your BGO has no advance info.

SOME appointed candidates MAY receive a call from their MOC congratulating them on their appointment. This can occur as much as a week before your portal is updated or any time thereafter. Note that some MOCs do not call, so the fact you don't get a call means nothing.

Candidates who have already received an appointment who don't have an LOA are most likely the winners of MOC slates that were submitted early and / or had very few qualified nominees on the slate and / or candidate was a principal nominee. For example, an MOC may only nominate one candidate who is fully qualified (and maybe truly exceptional). That person will receive an appointment. No need to wait to notify the candidate. As slates are submitted, USNA works its way through them and appointments start appearing. Now through early March is the prime time for appointments.

I didn’t get an email or anything, I just randomly checked my portal one day. Just yesterday I received mail from USNA and it’s dated a week earlier than when I checked my portal. It was kinda random.
.
Random? .... Well, the events in your case are not the PowerBall-MegaMillions kind of random.

DD received a call from her MOCs (a senator and congressman)saying she received an appointment. She hasn't heard from USNA yet nor is it in the portal. Hoping to hear something soon.
