Can each MOC nominate 10 people for each service academy each year? In other words, can each MOC nominate 10 to Air Force 10 to Navy 10 to West Point and 10 to the MMA? Or can each MOC only nominate 10 for all of the academies(for example, just 2 Air Force, 3 Army, 4 Navy, 1 Merchant Marine)?

It is they can nominate 10 to each academy and have up to 5 at any time. Thus, sometimes they can actually nominate 20 for 2 slates. IOWS, it might mean that the MoC can have 2 slates for USAFA, 1 slate for USMA, 1 USNA and 1 USMMA.

I should have also added that just because they can nominate up to 10 per slate, not every MoC does that for their slates. There are MoCs that do not submit any slates, and currently have 5 available. There are some that might submit just 1 candidate. There are some that might submit 6 candidates, even though they could nominate 10.

From there you start getting into the finer points. Such as, some MoCs talk to each other to spread the wealth. IOWS, if Sen A. submits your name to USAFA, than your Congressmen and Sen. B may decide not to duplicate your name. This could also be true when they spread the wealth to the point that if you rank USMA as number 1 with Sen. B., then, Sen. A. may still decide not to give you a nomination even if you place USAFA as number 1 on their rank.

FYI, I would really advise you to read through the sticky on the nomination forum on this site. After reading through the sticky, than take the time to search through all of the threads to see if another poster from your state has ever created a thread....you can get insight into whether they share their wealth, interviews, submission of slates (timeline...i.e. NJ submits late Jan.) and maybe even stats from previous years.

Good luck.

To clarify: a MOC can nominate up to 10 people for each opening they have at a specific academy. So if they had 5 openings (the max by law) they could nominate 50 people. Of course, that would lock all future openings for 4 years unless someone quit early.
