I hate this, Christmas week I received a call from MOC stating he was nominating me to the USNA, subsequently I received a call from my state Senator saying he was nominating me. Tonight I received a call from MOC’s office saying he was pulling my nomination because I can’t receive two nominations to the same SA within my state. That being said my MOC’s office said they were coordinating with my Senator to make sure I received a nom. STRESS, going out to run 5 miles. HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE?

This occurs quite often - collaboration among senators and representatives to not duplicate noms across slates or not nom to more than 1 SA. They have the ability to do this, and they believe in “sharing the wealth.” Focus on the fact you may only get 1 nom, and rejoice if it is to your top-ranked SA. Nothing else you can do about their policy.

Excellent choice to go PT!

The GOOD news?? It ONLY takes ONE nom….congrats!

^ This .... I've actually explained to one of my Senator's staff how multiple NOMs increases the chance of Admission, and they understand. That said, its the MOC prerogative on how to use their Nominations, and many coordinate.

Question: If one of my nominations was rescinded how would admissions know that? How would it increase my chances of getting an appointment?
Thank you

The Nominating Source would notify USNA if a nomination was rescinded.
Losing a nomination would not increase chances of appointment. It doesn't necessarily decrease either if you win the slate of the nomination you have , but having multiple nominations gives Noms and Appointments more options in finding a spot for you. (Plenty of discussions of this on SAF over the years).

Just FYI, I just got a call from my second state senator with a nomination, both Senatorial Noms are showing up in my portal now, I hope that helps me out.. So i did get three noms in a competitive state... hopefully the appointment comes

They may not even be aware of the original nomination yet. Slates are due until Jan 31 and even if it was submitted I assume the MOC can resubmit until then. Certainly no need for you to worry about it.

Does usna really start looking at slates beyond LOA winners before that Jan 31st deadline when nomination slates and applications are due? In my district there was one girl with an LOA that has her appointment, but for the most part USNA has been pretty quiet thus far around my district and with many others I know from summer seminar.

Yes…

In my state, the two Senators and one Representative talked to each other. DS received Rep Nomination and Sen1 Nomination… by 16Jan22, the candidate portal only listed Sen1. Rep nominated another deserving candidate.

In our state, the Senators offices coordinate nominations. The Congressman are left to their own process.

You could have both. DS received both MOC and Senator nom. Appointed from Senator's slate that he received call from Senator.

There are a range of different methods across the states. Some will not dupe a name across slates.

Our DS is a 3/C at USNA now. During the 2024 cycle he was NOT a recipient of an LOA. And he received his appointment 15 January. Also not a recruited athlete (for that matter not a varsity athlete in terms of traditional high school sports).
