I'm trying to find out more information about this civilian prep, but there is next to no resources. So I have a several questions.

1) How long is the program?
2) What is the acceptance rate of those applying to USAFA out of the prep?
3) Should I choose to go here, or just AFROTC at my local University?
4) Is a nomination required inorder to be accepted?

If anyone from the prep themselves could answer that would be great, thanks.

I'm just a candidate but here's what I know:

1. It's one academic year long, like a regular college.
2. I'm pretty sure as long as you do well at prep and get a nomination, you have a really good chance of admission.
3. That seems like a personal issue, but if you are going to reapply to USAFA after a year of ROTC anyway I would say just go to the prep school as your chances would be increased.
4. Yes

I'm an NWP grad.
1. It's three months long. For us it was September 4th through December 14th.
2. For the Falcon scholars it's pretty high. I don't know the numbers but for my class it was higher than 90%. I was a free agent and there were 4-6 of us who got in (again, not sure on exact numbers.)
3. I chose NWP over a full AROTC scholarship to anywhere I wanted and I guess I made the right decision.
4. Of course.

Pm me with any other questions, and I'll give you my contact information.

I'm not in the school yet, but I have a FFS there, and I have talked extensively with Mrs. Durbeck (one of the owners).

1) It is a single semester starting on Sept. 1st, and ending in December
2) For free agents, the acceptance rate is around 85%. If you get a Foundation Scholarship, your percentage jumps to 99%.
3) I am choosing NWP because it is very successful, and the academies trust the program.
4) There is no nomination requirement to get into NWP, but you must get one to get an appointment to an academy.

Jlamb what are your stats?

I was just wondering what it takes to get the FFS

My GPA is a 3.5*

Sat Scores: CR-690 M-670

Athletics: Cross Country for 6yrs (4yrs Varsity)
Track and Field 4yrs (2yrs Varsity)

Extra Curricular: Eagle Scout, National Outdoor Leadership School honors graduate, a bunch of community service opportunities, a Georgia Engineering Pathway Certification, those are the big ones I can think of right now.

CFA: Pushups-max, Situps-max, BB throw-IDR but pretty bad, Pullups-8 bad again IK, I can't remember the shuttle run but it was average, and Run-5:55.

*My GPA is pretty low. My father was military so I had to split my HS years two and two. For the first two years, I went to the top 7th HS in the nation (best Magnet school in the nation as well), so the program was really difficult. These last two years have been at a regular school, and my yearly GPA's have been above 4.0s. I wrote something about it on my resume, but I'm not sure if admissions saw it or not.

PM me for more info. I was there last semester

He's a falcon scholar, I'm assuming he's doing the second part of NW Prep program which is attending a local university.

Amak22, if you were there last semester, where are you attending class now. Are you reapplying to USAFA for the class of 2021?
I am finishing up at Golden West College in HB, California. NWP is a one semester program. You attend your second semester at your local JC or university. I received my appointment 2 March 2016.

It's interesting that NWP reports a number that high. I pm'd a guy who went last year, and their acceptance rate for self preps was less than 30%. could have just been an abnormal year though.

Thanks craiyan2! I will try to follow your suggestion.

you have to have a certain number of replies to be able to pm people. idk how many that is though

you may be confusing that 90% with self preps. the 90% only applies to falcon scholars. There were only 4-6 free agents who got in (obviously not 90%)
