Will I be notified that I didn’t receive a scholarship? Nothing has changed on the status page.
Hard to say. When my son went through the process the first time, he never received notification. Granted, part of that was because the person handling his paperwork left in January, so no followup was done. He reapplied for the 4 year, enrolled as a college program midshipman, and was awarded the Marine Option scholarship the early board his freshman year. He commissions in May.
I can say that the trend seems to be that if you received the scholarship (at least from a Marine perspective) good news travels quickly.
DS was not selected in the 3rd board either, but has also not yet been notified (email, portal or otherwise)that he was not selected. His is still listed as Boarded/UC and the description has changed......
"Boarded/Under Consideration: Applicants in this status have been reviewed by one of the three Selection Boards and unfortunately were not selected; however, these applicants remain eligible for ancillary offers until they move into a “Not Selected” Status."
So I presume that maybe he was close to the cut-off and they are waiting on those selected to either accept or decline the offer before they officially rule him out. However, we are just moving ahead under the presumption that he will be going on to BVU and entering the AROTC program as an non-contracted cadet. He will then work to make sure he is accepted to completed the entire program (becomes contracted) so he can commission upon graduation. If, by chance, he is offered some assistance (either nationally or campus based), then bonus.
My DS's portal changed to this: as well: Boarded/Under Consideration: Applicants in this status have been reviewed by one of the three Selection Boards and unfortunately were not selected; however, these applicants remain eligible for ancillary offers until they move into a “Not Selected” Status. Will I be notified that I didn’t receive a scholarship? Same situation here. Would love to know what this means and if anyone else has had experience with this. I'm not even sure what an ancillary offer is?
Can anyone explain this? TYIA
Yes. It means exactly that. No decision has been made.Does anyone know if NO DECISION has been made means anything at all?
Marismcmullen--the wait it making me crazy too! UT Austin is also out of state for us--we left Texas two years ago and he's gotten into his first choice school (UT Austin), has a full ride to our in-state school but does not want to stay in state. He's already accepted to UT. He is cool as a cucumber-at least in how he's letting on to us. I am no so cool at this point. Daily practice in patience for me.
I am the only child in my family (mother, sibs, cousins) that didn't go to TAMU--my brother was a Ross Volunteer in the Corp. My mom is in Aggie Mom's club still--she says that if you receive 5K in scholarship--that TAMU will offer in state price. Not sure how true--but it's worth a check if he's a Programmer for a year or two.

See if you can get in touch with Mason Brooks at TAMU--Assist Dir. of Development Corp of Cadets/Div of Student Affairs. He is who told my mom about this option regarding 5K waiving in state tuition. We can’t do college of his choice without scholarship. TAMU is out of state. The wait is making us crazy.
Again, It means exactly what it says. It is neither positive, negative, or neutral. At the risk of being rude, if you can't stand the wait then lock in plan B. Otherwise, be patient. News will arrive one way or the other. I can't say if it will be good news, or bad news, but there will be news.Kinnem, I should have been more straighforward--does it mean anything either positive OR negative OR neutral. I just don't have any personal experience with this process and I'm probably grasping for glimmers of hope!
For Texas schools if you recieve a competitive scholarship over 1,000 dollars, you get the in state tuition rate. It’s called the competitive scholarship waiver.Marismcmullen--the wait it making me crazy too! My DS status still says "No decision has been made on your application". DS level of calm about this wait is not at all like mine--as the days go by I am more and more nervous! My husband received a 4 year NROTC scholarship and he does not remember this much anticipation.
My question--does No decision mean anything?
