DS received 2 selection email notifications today...WOW, what is going on in this scholarship selection process???

10:20 AM CST - NROTC Applicant: Non-selection notification

12:45 PM CST - NROTC Applicant: Non-selection notification - SENT TO YOU IN ERROR
 
I got those two emails as well, I was relieved to know it was an error.
 
My DS got it too. A rollercoaster of emotions today......It was a relief to know it was in error.
 
I got them to. I wasnt too freaked out because my coordinator told me awhile ago that I will find out if I didnt get it in April so I was confused but also nervous. I texted my coordinator and he told me he is investigating. Definitely very relieved when I got the second email.
 
DS got the same thing. He was freaking out thinking that he wasn’t a viable candidate for the Academy then. Glad it was a glitch.
 
DS received an email at 11:20 saying the NROTC was sorry to report he had not been selected for a ROTC scholarship. He was obviously disappointed and trying to re-set his mind to Plan B, but at 13:00 he received an email saying the first email was mistakenly sent to him and his application was indeed still under review. Did anyone else experience this today? I wonder how widespread the error was and if it's an indication of what's to come.

Yes there is another thread titled "NROTC applicant: non-selection notification - sent to you in error" where several people have stated the same thing happening. Unfortunately my DS has not received the "it was an error" email so at this point his non-selection is still confirmed. Best of luck to you!
 
Have you checked the email junk folder? Its possible the 1st one made it and the 2nd one got caught. We seem to have about half the blast emails from this process get sent to that folder.

Have your DS checked his portal. It may very well say that it is still under review.

Yes, happened to my son today, too.
 
Might anyone have a minute to explain to me the process by which the entire application pool is reviewed in terms of Boards? On another thread, it was stated that there are still 6 NROTC boards to come. My question is: if the Selection Board has all the applications they are going to receive because the deadline has passed, why will it take six more Boards to finalize decisions? Is it due to the incredible number of applications? Or are they done in batches per Board? I would love some insight into the process, please.
 
DS got it too, only we didn’t see the second email until just now. Still in the game!
