NROTC Document Uploading

My daughter completed her NROTC officer interview in early June and submitted her official transcript in the middle of July. The NETFOCUS portal shows that these two document are still pending (the rest of the application was submitted in May). Is this document upload waiting time normal? The applicant started her application early and hopes to have it ready for the first board, and we also understand it is a very unusual time for the staff and the applicants as well. I really appreciate any advice or information to share. Thanks!

Even in normal times it can take a while, especially over the summer as the unit's officers are often off on other AD assignments. We had trouble reaching our son's freshman advisor over the summer because he was in Afghanistan at the time. Others are off doing other fleet stuff. And believe it or not, some actually take extended vacations in remote locations. You might try asking the PNS for the status but I wouldn't do it until sometime after labor day.

EDIT It may also be that the PNS knows the deadline he needs to meet for the first board and is using that to help him or her prioritize their activities. As usual with Navy, we don't even know when the first board will actually meet. It might be delayed due to SAT cancellations.

Thank you Kinnem! We thought about some of the scenarios you described during the summer and waited until September to ask this question. This is indeed a very unusual time for most of us and wish the best for the ROTC applicants.

Recommend your daughter send an email to: pnsc_nrotc_applications@navy.mil and ask if they have received the application (to include the O/I and transcript). That address is timely in their responses.

If they don't have the documents, circle back with your local recruiter who should have helped shepherd your daughter through this process. They are often the weak link in this process.

Thank you Go Dores! There was a staff change in the local recruiting office, which is in possession of the aforementioned documents . We've been very understanding and patient so far; however, if the status still does not change as the deadline draws near, the next help probably has to be from Pensacola.

Any luck since you posted this? I'm in exactly this same position. It's been frustrating as I started the application very early, completed everything to include the Fitness Assessment (which was especially hard to set up given the pandemic), travelled 8 hours to take my ACT, went through the Officer Interview, and even have my clearance from DodMERB. Again, I know these are unusual times, though AROTC and AFROTC have uploaded all of my documents very quickly and my portal is current and accurate. When I send an email about this or that, the technicians respond if not immediately, then certainly within 24 hours. I'm going before the 1st board for both AROTC and AFROTC. In stark contrast, my Navy ROTC portal is showing lots of open items which have clearly been completed. I"ve sent my Navy ROTC liaison a handful of emails to let him know and get a sense of my status. Complete radio silence.

Guys - I can tell you that NROTC is having some technical challenges with the migration of their website. I notified them upon the first posting here :zip:

No progress at all. No document uploading and no responses. Navy was my DD's first choice of branch when she started the application, and she spent tremendous amount of time on preparing for the AFA and polishing the essays. She even reached out to several midshipmen and managed to talk to a female Admiral. Just wish she will still have a chance to be considered by NROTC, but at the same time she is also leaning toward the other branch more and more each day. She just wants to serve! :)
