My apologies if this has been covered already, but does NROTC have a Physical Fitness test this year? I do not see it anywhere in my application portal. I’m aware they got rid of it for a while several years ago and then brought it back, but I’m wondering if they decided to scrap it again since I don’t see it mentioned in my application portal. Thanks for any info.

I have not heard they’ve canceled the Applicant Fitness Assessment this year. The current PT Cycle for the Navy has been paused, but not for applicants. When I did the app last year, I sent my AFA to my recruiter, not the App Portal.

Did they not have one in the past? That would be surprising...

It wasn't listed as something that needed to be sent for my DS, but it was still in the application instructions, so he just scanned the score sheet and sent it to his recruiter. I found it odd that it was not included in the documents that needed to be sent.

I was confused by that too while I was working on my application. At least for Michigan, after you submit your application, you need to email your recruiter, or they will email you, and they send you a bunch of documents to fill out and send back. You email these to your recruiter. This includes things like your transcript, SAT/ACT Scores, etc;. One of those documents is the form for the fitness assessment.

That makes sense, what I’d really like to know is if the fitness test is due by the December 31 deadline, or if it can be completed later since it doesn’t appear to be part of this application.

Understand, but there is no submission info on my application portal....maybe I should just contact them to get an official word.
You aren't going to get much more official than @GoHe is extremely familiar with the program and has connections on the inside.

Later because it is not part of the online application. 31 Jan is the deadline for those other items like the AFA.

I expect it has to be in by Dec 31 deadline. If I were to err it would be to get it in by then.

BTW there was 2 or 3 years in the early part of this decade where it was not required. I never understood that but ours is not to reason why...

I believe it is still a requirement. The portal for my DS just lists a check mark ✅ for required documents but his advisor/recruiter said he had to do it - was actually monitoring the completion of that & the interview pretty closely.... The advisor/recruiter did say they loosened up the requirements of who had to facilitate the AFA (due to COVID) but I would double check on that one 😉.....good luck 🍀 to you!

PS - I agree w/ 2025 above.... that’s exactly how it worked for our DS in IL except we got ahold of recruiter ahead of submission.... he sent all required docs ahead of time.... we sent everything through him... he gathered it all & sent it along to the Board as a “packet”....
