NROTC Scholarships

As far as advanced degrees, from what I understand this is the first year this is an option ...not sure if its solely for the aviation pipeline because of wait times, but college seniors are being given an option to apply to Naval Post Graduate school in Monterey for a year right out of school before going to flight school because the wait times....my DS is already in flight school and my DS2 is NROTC freshman....so I've heard bits and pieces...but it could be an option in pursuing an advanced degree. I also know that my DS has been encouraged to pursue a masters between tours at some point. This would be while active duty. I think the opportunities are there....its really what you wish to pursue....

To reinforce OS's point about the definition of "normal," there's not much that a sane person would consider normal about the NON-military experience of your typical corporate warrior these days.

Constant downsizing, re-orgs, layoffs, mergers/acquisitions.... Zero loyalty on the part of either employers or management cadres. Not our fathers' America by any stretch.

The military is far more "normal" - in the sense of having some degree of reliability and permanence - than the corporate world today.

This, this and more this. My granddaughter was born with birth defects, and my E-5 son-in-law has been granted more compassionate leave time from the Army to be there for her and my daughter than I can wrap my head around. I work remotely - at my last civilian job I received a call at 2 pm that I needed to get anything personal off the computer by 5 pm because I would no longer be able to access anything on it. If it wasn't shipped back to the company by the following day (I was told to use my personal email to send them the tracking number), $1000 would be deducted from my last paycheck. They lost a contract, didn't need the workers. I got a good reference out of it and a couple weeks severance. I was lucky - I found another position within 8 weeks. Three hours. And people wonder why millennials don't have loyalty to their employers.

does anyone know the numbers yet projected for the 2-year board and advanced standing for Navy sideload this upcoming summer? thank you
