I was offered a second CVW at USNA this fall. I am a rising senior and previously attended a CVW last spring. I clarified with admissions that it was not a mistake for me to be offered a second CVW. Is it usual for candidates to be offered multiple CVWs?

I don't believe it was a mistake. Our DS is going into his freshman year in college and just received his second CVW invitation as a reapplicant. We were surprised as well but trying not to read too much into it.

Thanks for the update. For the ones who received invites, have you completed your applications?

Appreciate the info. My son went to Summer Seminar but I think it would be great for him to experience CVW as well.

It is definitely very different. It was such an experience getting to follow a plebe around for a few days and go to their classes. I also saw that USNA is offering an optional CFA during the fall CVWs, which will be useful! They did not offer a CFA or physical fitness for drags last spring.

As to how you get invited, I am really not sure. I was denied from summer seminar but was offered a CVW last spring and offered one again this fall.

What is a CVW?
Candidate Visitation Weekend. I went and it was a good experience. You arrive Thursday evening and you are assigned to a plebe. You simply get to see a day in their life. You attend classes with them, eat with them, and even sleep with them. It's a good way to see what goes on during a "normal day" of midshipmen's life. For example, I got to attend a leadership class which was really interesting and awesome taught by a current EOD officer. A good time would recommend if serious about attending. Let me know if you have any more questions.

When do you find out if you can go to CVW? Are they every weekend?

They have a few scattered throughout the academic year. An invite is required, cannot hurt to let your BGO know that you are interested in one.

I received an email saying I had been selected, no idea how I got it I think because I was on their website subscribe list. When they email you they have multiple dates. It's not every weekend. I would maybe try emailing your counselor for guidance on how to get an offer.

I am pretty sure it comes from the candidate portal... I have two emails. One email is signed onto the website subscription and the other is the one I use on my candidate kit. My CVW invite came from the one I use on my kit.
