Official EA Mail Stalkers Unite Thread!

Thank you Naviss for having my back...haha...I guess that's just an old cliche but it holds true.

There is only one "round" of early action but the results are released over a period of time.

Boss, are they all in the mail yet? Forgive me for my lack of patience/pestering. -officer

I can't say for certain...I will check with my sources and report back later. I can't blame you for being on eggshells.

Thanks for the encouragement sir,
it's just hard waiting when alot of people have heard. i have heard if i get in i will have to go to prep school bc i have been out of high school for a year and a half.

Yes that is the route a lot of the prior enlisteds take, for a number of reasons. That is a great option for you, though, and you will be far ahead of your classmates. But I have seen kids go directly from the fleet so don't give up hope.

Congrats to all who have heard so far...you have reached a great milestone, but just the beginning of a long and arduous journey.

To those with deferral letters, I say, don't lose hope. My own son got one of those despite being a very strong candidate...he eventually got the big envelope, in late March of his senior year. And just graduated last May.

My advice is definitely retake the SAT's if you feel you can improve your score. They are important but only a part of the overall picture. The interviews are also important...might I ask what part of the country you are in? I am surprised there are no AAP's in the area. I'm not sure flying her into New London is necessary, however. As an AAP I would be willing to conduct a phone interview if you would like.

As far as improving your chances of admission, remember your file is "open," so any new accomplishment or award should be reported to your admissions officer going forward.

Keep working hard in school and in your outside activities. Many appointments come from the deferral list so don't be discouraged!:thumb:

To make a correction, apparently AAP's cannot do phone interviews...just found that out. But again if you contact me via PM I will try to find out if there is somebody who can do the interview in your area.

i am still holding hope that i can go straight from the fleet. On the other hand i will not be dissapointed by any means to recieve a prep school spot:thumb:

deferrment?

Just wondering, if one was deferred when do applications start getting reconsidered during regular admission and would they be before the other regular admissions? As well as is it rolling admission with those deferred from EA?
thankss!

You would be put with the other Ra applicants and the reviewing for RA starts january 15

if wrong somebody please correct me:thumb:

Still waiting! The only thing we have received is a letter from DoDMERB to schedule a test that Ging failed in initial exam. I guess that's good that they want the test redone? We do not expect the test to be a problem, but we know IF he gets an LOA it will be conditional.

Ging is our oldest, so this is all new to us. Is the wait as painful for all colleges?

Anyone else still waiting?

We do not expect the test to be a problem, but we know IF he gets an LOA it will be conditional.

The USCGA will not be offering any additional LOAs.

At this point only full appointments, conditional appointments, deferrals, and rejections.

Here in NC. Still waiting. No mail as of yet. However, something a bit confusing on the DoDMERB site. Son applied to USCGA only, but on the physical form put he might apply to MMA. Never actually proceeded with the application process to MMA. Never had ACT scores sent, never sent recommendation letters, etc. Noticed today that the status of the USCGA reads "in process". However, the MMA application status reads "offer extended". Could this possibly be a typo??? How would he receive an offer from MMA and never completed the app process? Discovering this on a Friday night creates one more thing to stress over the weekend. Don't you love it?

So the last message made us curious and we checked the dodmerb. It says status changed to alternate. What does that mean? I did not know that was possible status. We assumed accepted deferred or rejected were the only statuses. ANy thoughts?

deferral

Per Luigi59 At this point only full appointments, conditional appointments, deferrals, and rejections. I think its a deferral.

There is a fine young Coastie (I think he is an E-3) at NMMI with my daughter this year... I had the pleasure of meeting him and chatting with him.... :)

Good luck to you!

Well, today is the 19th, and we still haven't heard anything. We've been checking DoDMERB since seeing the post from yesterday, and nothing has changed at all. It still says "In Process" with the 14-Sep-2009 date. So I'm taking that as a positive thing. I'm so looking forward to Christmas this year with my family. I got them some really cool gifts and I can't wait to see their reaction. I keep visualizing handing my son his envelope with the rip tab; I can actually here the sound as it's being peeled down the side. Maybe some good news today form CG. Hang in there all, and keep us posted. -officer

Alternate is a status. It is what is given to any early decision candidate who is not outright rejected. It means you are in a pool with the other regular decision candidates and your file will be reevaluated over the next few months for possible appointment. Anywhere from 30-40% of the class will come from the alternate list so your chances remain strong. Best of luck.

We are still waiting here in Texas too! I was wondering how do we log on to Dodmerb. We had used that site so long ago and have not logged back in since so how do we access it?

I just googled DoDMERB and created an account.

Is admissions working today since it is the 19th and it's crunch time to get all the decisions out? -officer
