Official USAFA Class of 2016 Appointment thread

Got a call from admissions saying I recieved an appointment :D. Said my bfe was sent off this morning. No portal update yet

Thanks. He actually still had a DQ on the portal until the day prior to the call. We were waiting for a waiver from DODMERB. When the fully qualified statement appeared, the call came soon after. Now there's a red statement about a decrease in appointments. I worry best in the middle of the night, and last night I did a "OMG what if they made a mistake" and am now on watch for the mailman. How big is the BFE anyway? An overstuffed normal letter or "really big one"? We live in PA, and it will probably take a little longer to get to us. If my DS knew I was posting this he would probably want to knock me out, but he has to live with my being IN CHARGE for a couple more months:)

First BFE is probably 10 by 14ish--white, not really stuffed full. Second BFE has more paperwork in it.

I don't want to discourage you, but this sounds fishy. The Admissions office doesn't typically call candidates with news of an appointment. They let their MOC do that.

I got an email and a phone call from a 2ndLT Mosby congradulating me on my offer. phone call and email was on 1 apr

This year I heard of several Appointees receiving phone calls from Admissions. Not all MOCs call Appointees, especially if the are not being "charged" to them.
 
Portal updates

Lt Mosby is a diversity recruiting officer. The diversity officers only call after the portal has been updated to reflect the appointment. There were no portal updates today.

erikct1325 only has a Presidential nomination, so there is no MOC for him to expect a call from...

The Air Force wants an Officer Corps that is diverse like the Enlisted Corps is. A DRO (Diversity Recruiting Officer) is responible to make the Air Force Academy an option for those who would not normally consider it. The Air Force definition of diversity goes beyond ethnicity and includes those whose parents have never gone to college, children of single parent household, having overcome adversity by personal efforts, knowledge of languages of strategic importance to the Air Force, athletic prowess, etc..

Thank you insider:thumb: anyone else analyzing the timelines...it seems that there may likely be a delay of a couple of weeks between the MOC call and the BFE. Insider was able to confirm my DS's offer and said the portal will change Next Tuesday (that's 13 days after MOC call). The BFE should arrive a few days after that. Whew. I was starting to think it was a really bad dream or an awful practical joke. I still can hardy believe that this is "real". This is my oldest child of many- I cried last week bc of the call,and I was so proud of him; I cried this week bc of no BFE and i thought it was a mix-up; and now I'm about to cry again bc it looks like this is really "for real". I wanted him to reach his goal of an appointment but also wanted to be able to keep him with me forever. I wonder if there's a forum for separation-anxiety mothers. Ugh.
