Official USAFAPS (Prep School) Class of 2013 Appointment thread

I'm sure we will have time to contact them once we get the P. I checked and, at least in my home state of California, the deadline for nomination packages is in November. We should be fine.

It will probably be a phone interview.

You can either telephone interview or arrange an interview while you are at home over the Thanksgiving or Winter Breaks.

The problem is that most of us are not stationed close to home anyways. So it is still a pain to get all the required information. I've actually already built both nom packages for the California Senators (yep, found them online), and applied for the VP nom. The only reason I've decided not to send them is because I don't know what my mailing address at the P will be. This is the same reason why I have yet to contact my Rep, because they only mail out a package once you actually call them. If I supply one address and only one address (at the P), it will mitigate the risk of missing valuable correspondence. That's just my thought process behind the nomination issue. I've already considered my options and chose to proceed accordingly.

That's an awesome head start. IF you have everything but a mailing address, it will be incredibly easy for you once you get here.

I just got off the phone with my MOC's secretary in charge of nominations and she told me not to send anything in at this point. She said that a big part of the new information packet deals with stuff from the Prep school( grades, letters of recommendation, etc.). I asked her if I could possibly send some info now, because I'm not sure how I will get my hands on it will I'm in Colorado. She said that with almost 5 months till the deadline my stuff would surely get lost if I sent it in piece mail (my MOC's office is being moved due to redistricting so that may have something to do with it.) I guess, at this point, I'll just update my letter and my resume to the best of my ability and keep all of my existing info as organized as possible so my parents can send it to me later. Does anybody have a better suggestion?

I would bring the hard copies of the required info to the Prep School with me.

Quick Question

Hello,

Was wondering for the prior enlisted cadet candidates if applying for an account for the US Bank is necessary, since most of us already have an account set up with the DFAS system with either USAA or whatever bank chosen while in-processing at Lackland.

and also, the checklist has khaki pants, brown belt, and brown shoes; does anyone know the purpose of these items at the prep school?

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for your time.

Your current checking with Direct Deposit will work fine. The new checking account is for direct Entries.

The pants, belt, and shoes are for a uniform that is called "Husky Gear" you will wear theses items with a Navy Blue Polo Shirt that says "AF Prep" on it and have a Coat that also says "AF Prep". You will wear this uniform to events that would require "Business Casual Attire".

I know this sounds bad, but I can't find details on what time we need to report on 11 July. I'm guessing they'd like us to show up sometime in the morning. It'd be nice to have a time frame, though.

I'll probably end up giving them a call tomorrow.

report at 0730 at the community center. I am sure there will be signs.

Thank you!
Also, did you get squared away with the B&B program?

Contact Mr Mark Winter @ 719-333-2583 and ask him for the Bed and Breakfast Program.

It may be too late, if you have not already done this, but it is worth a try if you have not made arrangements for lodging the evening of the 10th,

My DS called. He was told the Priors couldn't do this program...:frown: I think they gave him the wrong info, but no worries. He has everything figured out, and a place to stay!

AD reports in a few days!!!:yllol:

My DS called but had to leave a message, and I don't believe they have called him back. His backup plan is just to rent a hotel room for the night and then take a shuttle or cab to Inprocessing. His plane arrives fairly late on Tuesday evening.

New MOC Nominations

For those that have completed and/or working on your MOC nominations... Will you be using the same essays from last year, rewriting them, or starting from scratch? Any suggestions? :help:

They transfered my DS to about 3 people, when he called, then told him AD couldn't do the B&B program. He is staying with a friend of one of his Sgts. Then meeting with a AD that he met at the visitation program, in the am.

It's all good. Too bad AD was told they couldn't do the B&B, but it all works out.

strange that they would not make arrangements for the Priors coming in. With a reporting time of 0730, they nearly all need to come in the night before. I guess they don't have enough temporary quarters on base for 50 Priors coming on the same evening.

I think it has to do with the fact that they get a "per diem"? Sorry, don't know the correct terminology. Since they are being paid for travel, they can figure out paid accommodations.

Civilian kids aren't being paid anything.

I could be totally wrong, but since DS was turned down for B&B, that's what I was thinking.

Thanks, I'll be staying with my brother who lives in Broomfield. It's about an hour and half from the Academy, but it's nice to be with family for a few days beforehand.

Welcome to Colorado Springs, Priors

Just wanted to welcome all the Prior active duty Preppies to Colorado Springs. Most should be arriving today and starting school tomorrow.
