I would doubt any cadet on the ROTC AD OML would be able to get Infantry without ADSO if they were at the 54% on the AD OML.
My comment above was, if a cadet is in the top 10% of the AD OML, as I would imagine the cadets that Aglahad mentioned will be, they will have the option of a branch detail but would not be required to take one for the MS branch.
After all the nurses were taken off the list and the final count for reserves factored in, my son just made the 10% mark last year. His original branch was MI with an Infantry detail. He could have selected MI without the detail had he wanted. After a long and twisting journey he was able to branch Aviation.
