Orientation 2013

For right now I might be ok to stay out later (or as late as I want up to 2245). I'll find out soon.

My dad and I land in COS at 6:40 (hopefully he can get on that plane... he is jumpseating). That means we wont get into town after getting luggage and a car until about 8 - if we book it out of the airport. Is that too late to have the second dinner for the second session? I'd really like to get to know you all before the actual orientation, and if we eat at 8 at whatever restaurant we decide, it will give all us late-comers time to get situated. Granted, the negative trade off would be losing cadet company.. any feedback?

i agree. i can play organizer for 2 session dinner. PM if you're in and say what time you get in and where you prefer to eat!

we can make this a separate thread, too...

Well, funny story. If I go to the second dinner now, I could only go to the late one! I have dinner/hors d'oeuvres at the Dean's house from 1700-1900. Have to see what happens after dinner number 1 though. Also, I'd suggest eating at a place closer to the gates just in case I can go (your call though).

How bout texas roadhouse at 1930 for session two? ryan I don't think it will take that long to get outta the airport. It took us an hour and a half total to get from denver to our hotel back in september. And Hornet, I'm glad this is working out. I can't wait to meet you and everyone else, assuming others can stay out later too...

We'll be arriving in Denver at about 1:30pm on Apr 19. If someone wants a ride from the airport to COS, let me know.

Well, we won't be getting to Colorado Springs from Denver until 5:30, so hopefully you will all still be at Red Robin when my family arrives. It's open on Easter, right? Otherwise, we may run into a problem.

I'm flying in on Friday (spring break for me) so I can make any time on Sunday evening for Red Robin. I'm pretty sure it's open on Easter.

I've updated my slot below to include availability; if everyone who wants to go to RR could do the same, that would make it easier to agree on a meeting time.

Can't wait to meet you all! One week from now I'll be in C. Springs!

If anybody needs a ride to dinner (first session), my dad and I will be at the Academy Hotel and will have extra seats. We're flying out on Friday and hope to get some skiing in on Saturday. Any good recommendations on ski resorts? (we're thinking Keystone)
I don't have an escort yet, but have questions around opportunities for freshmen with Private Pilot's Licenses or the Drum and Bugle Corps. I'm really on the fence about the time commitment for D&B. (I posted this also on CC)

That's my plan! This next week is my spring break. Flying out Thursday, hope to get some skiing in Friday and Saturday, drive to Colorado Springs on Sunday. We'll probably do at least one day, maybe both at Keystone.

I personally like Copper Mountain better than Keystone, but they're both great choices.

Ok this is what i've gathered. If I land in COS at 6:50, I'll be able to be in town by 7:30. That is pushing it, but lets just assume its correct. We eat at 7:30 at Copper Mountain, which hornet says is close to the gates, correct? So lets plan on the late dinner for the 2nd session being at Copper Mountain at 7:30. (My dad and I, with Craig also, may be a little bit late)

do you have to go to orientation?

No, you dont have to go, its completely optional. BUT.....its HIGHLY recommended! through the orientation experience, you'll learn alot about what to expect and how to prepare....just saying...
