Alright I might stop by (am I allowed to?). I really wanted to stop by today but we just went around, ate dinner at old Chicago downtown. On a side note we struck up a conversation with the waitress and we tell her where we are from and turns out her dad lives there. Then the guy sitting at the bar says he grew up where I'm from. There were 12 people in the tavern and 5 all had connections from the same town 1300 miles away. Crazy!

@ bombtrack the hotel I'm at has amazing wifi for free.
 
I just found this forum yesterday. I am attending the orientation on the 13-14, is it possible for my parents and I to attend this dinner thing, and if so can i get some more information?

Hey guys I'll be going to the second orientation. I'm wondering which hotel is best to stay at. I'm not sure whether it's better to stay on or off base. Anybody have any recommendations?

Stay at the Academy Best Western. Thats where a lot of us will be staying at.
 
We are staying at the Days Inn which is across the street from Best Western.
 
Well then you will be able to attend the multi-hotel pool party hosted by us Academy Hotelers at our Academy Hotel indoor pool. Sunday night at 9:30! If you can convince the front desk clerks to let you in, we will see u there!
 
My son's going to the April 13-14 orientation and we're staying at the Drury Inn. Which Red Robin, and what day and time?

We never really got many details on Orientation...

When do we show up on Monday? Where at?
 
What I understand from the information given in the orientation folder it says that there are two pick up locations and buses will be leaving at 7:30 from each location on Monday morning. I think they would rather people take the bus to minimize cars on the Academy grounds.
 
kmjg is right. According to the folder:

"On Monday, the Academy will provide bus transportation for appointees and guests from two designated locations (see Hotels Listing), departing at 7:30 am to the Field House. Transportation back to the hotels for guests will depart Arnold Hall at 4:30 pm. The appointees will be spending the night in the dorms on this day.

Hotels Listing
Pick-up Location #1 - Best Western, The Academy Hotel, USAFA bus picks up at 7:30am on Monday and Tuesday at 3:15pm. Returns to the hotels are provided on each of the two days (see agenda).

Pick-up Location #2 - The Outback Restaurant parking lot (Commerce Center Dr). USAFA bus picks up at 7:30 am on Monday and Tuesday at 3:15 pm. Returns to the hotels..."

Also, they did seem to prefer that we use the pick-up locations, but if not:

"If you are driving, it is recommended you use the North Gate entrance to the Academy (exit 156B off of I-25), which provides direct access to the Field House. Parking is on the east side of the Field House. All appointees and guests will be transported via Academy buses from the Field House to Arnold Hall for the main program. All pick-ups for appointees on Tuesday will be a the Field House. "

I asked before that I need to leave orientation early, what would be the best way for me to reconnect with my parents? taxi? or are there shuttles waiting to pick anyone up at anytime to take them back to the hotels?
 
You would need a car and to meet them at the Field House. I don't believe any busses or shuttles are doing rounds during the day at all.
 
I think the Orientation Folder said something about bus/shuttle going to the hotel drop-offs at 2:30 and 4:30 pm on Tuesday. I can't quite recall at the moment, but it should be in there.
