Parent ID's

I saw a form in my sons materials for parent ID's. Is that something that we can or should complete and send in now, or is the parent ID something they will do on R-day? If it gets us through the gate faster it would be nice to have before R-DAY.

The application asks for the Cadets company though, which of course we don't have yet.

Anyone know about the ID's?

I got the parent ID in April (took 5 min, no one else in line). It allows you to go through the DOD line and is generally faster. (If you already have a military ID, you don't need the Parent ID.) The Parent ID is good through your cadet's graduation date.

If you are going to R-Day, I would get it then (or get it the day before if you are arriving early). Go to the Visitor's Center just outside Thayer Gate. Once inside, the gift shop is to the right; the Visitor's Center is to the left. Once inside there are a couple of military personnel at a table -- they will have the form to fill out in case you forgot it. They will ask for some info (driver's license, SS#, cadet's class year, etc) and take your picture. You can let them know your new cadet is in Beast since you won't have company or TAC/NCO info.

Visitor's Center hours are daily: 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

This is huge. You will thank your lucky stars over and over again for getting that ID. It's like getting the TSA precheck line at the airport.

Also, some states do not have a compliant ID yet and you will either need a passport or the parent ID to get on post. Your license is not accepted.
