Just read @FrauTeufelshund 's ideas of making a "TWE! But look what I am doing now!" and thought I'd change it a little to just have some people post their Plan A-'s or B's whatever you want to call it. Anyone from those who got accepted and just wanted to share what their backups were to those who got a TWE and are currently pursuing them. People can update on how they are doing with their plan A-'s if they wish and those who ended up going with their backups could maybe talk about how theirs worked out for them. I don't know thought this could be fun to look at especially at the end of admissions so that those who are having the opportunity to explore other options can see what others currently and in the past plan on doing/did.

I guess I'll go ahead and talk about what I'm thinking first. Right now I am leaning to enlist in either the Navy or Marines as a reservist if I don't get into the USNA so that I can go to boot camp and experience that comradery and grow from that experience. After Boot camp which I would try to possibly work out with the recruiter to do over the summer, I would hope to go to community college and reapply for USNA alongside NROTC and Officer Candidate School. If I didn't get accepted to any of those I'd probably continue reapplying until I can't again and from what I have understood about my limited research on NUPOC if I was going into a third or fourth year of college I would also begin applying for that alongside preparing to move to a four-year college. I'd then plan on trying to get a commission but at that point, I may just move fully to active duty or start looking for other civilian jobs. Anyways that's my four year and onward plan thanks for reading and hope you all feel a little pushed to share what your alternate plans are for others to view.

Still waiting to hear back but, as a fourth time applicant, I will share my Plan A- that I am currently doing. I am currently a Mechanical Engineering undergrad with a concentration in Biomechanics and Certificate in Bioengineering on pace to graduate early this fall. Still hoping for USNA and have already completed preliminary app for CO2026 (my fifth and final cycle of eligibility). If I do not get in, my plan is to go through OCS after I hear back from USNA next cycle, although I may get a civilian job while I wait for decision in order to build savings.

DS plan A- is NC State University, mechanical engineering, joining AFROTC. Turned down for NROTC scholarship. He is color-deficient and AF offers more opportunities (other than flying, of course) than Navy for those with this trait.
NCSU is a beautiful campus! I really liked it when we were there. DD attended a nuclear engineering program a couple summers ago and it was awesome. Congrats to your DS. I hope he loves it there!

Plan A- is Miami University, Oxford OHIO, National NROTC Scholarship which I am very excited about. Computer Science/Engineering with Naval Science Minor. Looking to pursue the Naval Pilot route. I secured a merit based scholarship through Miami OH which will pretty much cover my room and board costs, so that is a plus. Wishing all of you success in your chosen path. There are more routes to the same goal! Keep the faith, and Fly NAVY!

LOL... Of all the things I have heard or said about State , that was never one of them. A lot has changed in 30 years.

Hope y'all love it there as much as I did.
HAHA!! Maybe it was just the time that we were there. There were just so many trees. Living where we are with too much new construction it's something we don't see a lot of. So, maybe I just loved the trees and shade. hahahaa

Son has a partial merit scholarship to UMBC (University of Maryland - Baltimore County) and offered spring admission to UMCP (University of Maryland - the big main campus), but no financial incentive from there yet. He has tentatively accepted the UMBC offer, and has also applied to a program with NIH through the campus. If he gets that, he will probably major in bio-mechanical engineering. He is still on the fence for a major overall if he doesn't have to select something specific to the NIH study group. And he would like to live on campus, but we will see how the schools are handling any future pandemic issues. (He is getting his first vaccination shot this weekend, and the next in May).

It is unclear as to whether or not he will try to apply again to the service academies, or just pursue other interests if he doesn't receive any sort of offers from USNA or USAFA (prep school, etc.). That's totally up to him.

You know, I am an Eastern NC native and lived hear all my life. Grew up a Carolina fan and attended ECU so I have never liked NCSU. Been on the campus a few times years ago and was never impressed. I had the chance to drive around it last week and liked what I saw. It was quite beautiful! Certainly a possibility for plan A-.

Will be graduating college in the fall, have an internship lined up for this summer. I'll be very disappointed when I receive a TWE, but at the end of the day I know I gave it my all. I expect a wave of TWEs to come out either today or tomorrow.

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation and internship! If you're not offered acceptance, do you have any other options to apply for, like OCS? I applaud your tenacity and perseverance. Those are qualities that are often hard to come by and I think will serve you well in life. I wish you all the best!
