Plan A-

Plan A- is Miami University, Oxford OHIO, National NROTC Scholarship which I am very excited about. Computer Science/Engineering with Naval Science Minor. Looking to pursue the Naval Pilot route. I secured a merit based scholarship through Miami OH which will pretty much cover my room and board costs, so that is a plus. Wishing all of you success in your chosen path. There are more routes to the same goal! Keep the faith, and Fly NAVY!
The most gung-ho person in '85 (frankly, the most gung-ho person I've ever met) used to command the NROTC unit at Miami of Ohio. Too bad he's no longer there - would have been a great experience for you.

Will be graduating college in the fall, have an internship lined up for this summer. I'll be very disappointed when I receive a TWE, but at the end of the day I know I gave it my all. I expect a wave of TWEs to come out either today or tomorrow.
I second what @kimchee432 says! Congratulations 🎈🎉 on your graduation! Looking 👀 at your post from the perspective of a parent, I know yours must be overfilled with pride in what you have accomplished. I’m sure their heart hurts a bit because they know your disappointment but man, you surely gave it your all & then some! I see nothing but success in your future! Good luck 🍀 to you!

DS #2 just finishing freshman year at RIT. He loves it there. Majoring in computer security.
That's great to hear! Looks like a nice community up there with lots of diversity. Should be interesting if that's where she ends up. So far she's been pleased with who she's spoken with. Even the XO has been great and helpful with her scholarship transfer. Although I am assuming that he's not "the guy" anyway that'll be the harda$$ leading the unit (I have no idea though).

DS at RIT has a friend who was the year ahead of him in HS who is in the NROTC unit as URoch (that was his plan A- after an unsuccessful USNA application). Things seem to be going well for him there.

Thank you! I've wanted to go to USNA for as long as I can remember, and after being rejected last year, I worked so hard to improve my application. At the end of the day they can't accept everyone, but regardless I wish everyone who has been accepted the best of luck!

Still waiting to hear back but, as a fourth time applicant, I will share my Plan A- that I am currently doing. I am currently a Mechanical Engineering undergrad with a concentration in Biomechanics and Certificate in Bioengineering on pace to graduate early this fall. Still hoping for USNA and have already completed preliminary app for CO2026 (my fifth and final cycle of eligibility). If I do not get in, my plan is to go through OCS after I hear back from USNA next cycle, although I may get a civilian job while I wait for decision in order to build savings.
This is not something you see very often, but kudos to you for continuing to apply after so many rejections. Do you have a sense of why you were rejected in past years? It seems as if though there could be something that is continuing to hold you back after so many attempts. Definitely talk to your admissions counselor and arrange a phone call so you can talk about your application.

I understand that it is a dream to attend USNA. Having applied three times to the Naval Academy, I get the desire to attend such a storied institution. However, you will be graduating in the Fall and if you get accepted for '26 you will have to restart the entire duration of your college career after having graduated a semester before you enter USNA. There is a chance that you might despise your experience at USNA and you will kick yourself for not trying to get into OCS and get your commission right out of college. This is just my take on it and you should live your life the way YOU want it. Just keep in mind that if you have been rejected a certain number of times, there might be something that would inhibit your success if you were to attend the academy. Best of luck to you and I hope you are successful in your journey.

Locked on Plan B last November 2020 with two Early Action acceptances (later cancelled losing the deposit). Received 10+ rejections including AROTC and USMA. Accepted USNA Foundation Scholarship.
DS is finishing up his foundation year. With the crazy year it has been, it was a blessing in disguise.
Foundation is the “Golden Ticket”. Congratulations!!

It's been great to read this throughout the day and hear about all the fantastic places everyone is going alongside all the encouragement people are giving to each other. This is one of the reasons why I love this forum and the people on it, such an informed, supportive and helpful group of individuals.

Just received a TWE by email a few minutes ago but am happy with continuing with my Plan A-: I just was promoted to a 3/C MIDN and a Squad Leader in charge of six mids in my unit- I am very happy with the family I have built here and am happy to continue with my life at my NROTC unit:)
Just received the same email and am ready to look forward and go with the plan I put in place

My DS is considering USNA foundation vs civilian prep. Which school did you choose?

Mercersburg Academy, Mercersburg, PA. It’s about 3 hours west of Philadelphia and 2 hours northwest of Annapolis. We pay 20% of the tuition, room, and board (TRB). Foundation/Mercersburg cover the remaining balance. We’re relocating there in July. This is our homecoming since DS grew up in Philly. DS received his standing orders: maintain As and Bs, don’t get in trouble, and before Thanksgiving, he needs a new nomination and pass the PRT. We already submitted the VP, MOC, and CDDV nomination applications. Currently, DS is preparing for the PRT: 2-second cadence push-ups, plank, and the 1.5 mile run. He is planning to take it in July. I think the Foundation got it right. An extra year of Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, and 0530 weight training can transform a young person into one highly confident individual. I noticed DS is eating massive amount of food after 0530 workouts. The 20% fee will surely covers his caloric intake in the school cafeteria.

Was talking to the college counselor and for those wondering both U of A and ASU have NROTC programs and are still accepting applicants. As far as I can tell you can join an NROTC unit without the scholarship

DS plan A/B is currently the University of Notre Dame on a NROTC scholarship as a Computer Engineering major. Visiting this weekend!
We visited a few weeks ago and met with NROTC reps---my DS said "there is nothing to not love about ND!!!!" ☘️ Such a wonderful environment. Congratulations to your DS!
