Please Post something about Plebe Summer that is Positive

Then they will belong to the Brigade. They will get through it. Chop all day and Calls every morning.

I believe they do. For Plebe Summer it’s every meal. Academic year I was told it’s morning, afternoon and then evening is only before mandatory meals. Nemo, is that still correct?

I heard that the switch-over to the 2nd set Detailers was done with some fanfare yesterday.
I think that "fanfare" was the term used.

From what I understand, the 1st set Detailers walked off in unison, which was followed by the cacophony of the 2nd set Detailers screaming and running like a Mongol horde, straight at the wide-eyed Plebes.

Some of those Plebes probably peed a little. :D

That is usually how it’s done. From a Plebe perspective it’s the unknown. They had gotten used to their detailer and the routine. You know the switch is going to happen but know basically nothing. I had the worst detailer first set and we were even nervous about the change. Even at my last class reunion everyone who was from a surrounding company joked about how hard he was (we are actually buddies today and catch up over a beer when in the same city). Not sure how they formally do change over, but it used to be done at lunch formation and they just change spots. As a Plebe you had no clue that was going on, but you knew it was coming ‘soon’. After a day or two they settle in. Lots of big events ahead like sponsor meet and greet, baseball game, summer whites, etc. They are also learning that they can do this and they won’t break. They really find their groove as a team and work well together. The build up part is coming and the changes over the next few weeks really become seen.

Yes. They do chow calls before every mandatory meal plus other formations that don't correspond to meals like EOL formations.

Two questions: when do they stop wearing the plebe working uniform, and only the summer whites (I know that they get to wear them the the baseball game). Do the detailers stop wearing the brown (taupe) uniform at the same time?

And what is the “company training staff” MiddyB referred to?

I'm guessing the "plebe working uniform" you are referring to are the white works. They'll stop wearing those at the end of PS. The detailers will also stop wearing khakis at the end of PS. Upon reform, the Brigade will be in Whites (for dress) and Navy Working Blues (for working). The Company Training Staff are billeted Firsties, 2/C, and Youngsters responsible for carrying out the professional and physical development of the Plebes during the Ac Year. So I did some math.
There were three (3) of us before I-Day since we have only the one DS. Normally, we bought 4 gallons of milk every week.
Now that it's just my wife and myself, we finished our 5th gallon of milk, since he's been gone.

So apparently 3 of the 4 gallons of milk we bought every week, went down his pie hole.

If every Plebe drank that much milk, USNA would go through 3,600 gallons (14 tons) of milk every week.
It boggles my mind.

I too only have "the Boy" and we would by 4 gallons a week as well- 1 was strictly for his protein shakes- we are milk drinkers but only go through 2 a week at best.

You know it’s been a long summer when you are calculating Milk consumption HAHAHAHAH [emoji23]....Phone call Sunday!! [emoji3]

Bahahaha we just threw OUT a spoiled gallon!! Have to move to a carton [emoji849] now. I was just thinking about milk!! So many differences #Landry being a BIG one as well!!

According to usna.edu, King Hall goes through over 1000 gallons of milk...every day. The numbers are staggering.

Okay then! Clearly, my Plebe drinks a lot more milk per day than the average Midshipman.
1,000 gallons per day / 4,400 Mids = .23/GPM (Gallons Per Mid) <--heck that's less than a quart!

30,000 gallons (that's a good-sized 20'x40' swimming pool) of milk quaffed by Midshipmen every month. That's 360,000 gallons in a year, which is exactly what one ship lock in the Three Gorges Dam will hold.
Wow.

Wondering about plebe family weekend. Do all plebes get the same liberty? Or are fall athletes limited in their liberty?

Fall athletes their weekend can vary by sport. The coaches understand how important this weekend and try to maximize the time with families.
