Plebe Clothes

Good Morning,

I am an incoming plebe for the USMMA Class of 2024. I was offered an appointment very late, last Friday, 05/29. I am now on a scramble to submit all forms at the due date for everyone else, as I just got all of the required forms. The biggest thing that is giving me problems is finding all of the required clothing items. I have found and ordered the socks and the shirts. The underwear is giving me problems. I can't find any performance underwear at a low cost, as buying 14 of them adds up.

Does anyone have recommendation on where to get 14 pair of DryFit/Performance underwear in all white, or with a grey waistband?

My son only took 4 pair and says that was ample. The rest were plain white boxers (14).

You might want to join the official class of 2024 group on Facebook. You have to get approved to join by the admins though. But there was a thread on there where parents were talking about this and some suggestions were: Target "Good Fellas" brand, duluth trading company (may be expensive), Gap Factory.com is having a sale, Pair of Thieves, and some people were buying adidas that have a grey band. Some parents commented they had bought some like under armor white but with a black band. The thought was expressed though that the bands can't be allowed to be visible under the white uniforms or the pt gear though. Good luck!

According to the Logging In Book at page 12-13, the Plebe Kit comes with 3 pair of compression shorts as well.

Keep in mind that you do not need to be too stressed out over exact items. Even the most strict cadre in INDOC is not going to count your underwear. Just have enough that you can put something clean on in the mornings and you should be fine.

Hey man, congrats on your appointment! I also received a late appointment mid-may, so I feel your pain. I got a few three packs from Costco, and a buddy at the academy told me that you only actually need a few pairs of white underwear for your inspection drawer. Amazon also comes in handy. See you in a month!

Buy and take whatever kind of underwear you want. I would just get 7-10 pairs of whatever type/color.

While it has been too long ago for me to remember how many pairs of underwear I took to Indoc, I do remember during a Plebe Out (if they still to those), a pusher opening my underwear drawer, pulling out a pair that wasn't very tightly rolled, and throwing it on the deck. . . when it burst open, the group of pushers (all female) circled around the offending garment jumping up and down, pointing at it and yelling. . . . it was all I could do to keep a straight face. . . . THAT I remember. . . . .
