Portal updated to turned down

My portal also changed to turned down this morning. So disappointing. No email either. I do hope there is a chance for NAPS or a foundation still, does anyone know if this is the case?
Thanks
If you don’t mind me asking what state are you from? And what kind of nomination did you have?

Not at all. I'm from TN. I had both congressional and senator noms. I was a little bit surprised that I didn't get wait listed after receiving two noms. But, it will be a good confidence booster for class of 2029!

If you don't mind me asking, what district are you in for Tennessee and what Senator nomination did you have?

Why is that information relevant? I am becoming highly suspicious of new members asking for detailed information from candidates. My advice is to neither ask for, or reveal, such information.

I'm sorry, I guess I don't know the etiquette for this forum. I am asking because we are from Tennessee also. #patientlywaiting.
This is supposed to be an anonymous forum. Too many details makes it possible for people to identify people. And while right now it might not seem important, it could be so down the line.

One can always reach out through private message if they want to connect with a forum member.

Thank you.

Thanks for the info! More motivation for next year!!

Highly suspicious of what? It was a general question, didn’t not ask for name and address..if you do not agree with the questions and answers in this forum you could have simply read and moved on.

Its suspicious because with the internet today you can do so much with little information and when someone asked a question for example about their district, that narrows down a lot and then it goes to finding other smaller things to be able to tell where people live, their names etc. It seems like "new members" are fishing for some sort of targets.

People are weird now days, and it isn't hard at all to get personal with someone who doesn't even know you. Protect your privacy.

There are a multitude of people on this forum asking others what district they are in just to narrow down their ideas on whether they might get in or not. I feel it is up to the person whether they would like to share, but I highly doubt people are asking for malicious intent.

Multiple members of this community have been doxxed. The member that I value most of all and who has provided invaluable guidance to hundreds of candidates no longer frequents these forums for exactly that reason.

When I see someone with 2 posts, both of which are asking for location information, I find that invasive.

There is no good reason to ask for district, town, high school, etc. and definitely no good reason to share it. That information provides no benefit to the requestor and does represent potential hazard to the responder.

I can promise you I have no malicious intent for asking state and nomination information. Again, I asked because I am from Tennessee also and was curious if we were competing in the same district.

I am a “new member” because my child applied to the academy for the class of 2028, there would be no reason for me to join prior to now.

I joined to learn from others and gain knowledge. It is ok if my questions aren’t answered, I won’t be offended. I already apologized for not knowing the etiquette of the forum.

Yes, I asked two questions both were from individuals who posted from Tennessee, I was not trying to be “invasive” as you stated. Again, if my questions were out of line it is ok if I don’t get a response.

from what i have seen from watching the threads as a guest multiple people are asking about districts others are in whether it’s to maybe get into contact with someone in the same boat as you that are also close (because this is a long and hard wait) or to see their chances on getting an acceptance. Calm down and if you don’t like it, as the previous person said, ignore it. It is up to the person on whether they would like to say their district, not yours.

Also no one has asked for “town, highschool, etc” just for the district. The districts in TN are huge and makes it very hard to narrow it down to one specific person.

She has apologized multiple times and you continue to pick at a question she asked.

Is this why a certain mentor, who i really look up to and has been a huge help to me these past two years, just disappeared from the forums?! Even if it is not, it is a shame that happened to someone. This is supposed to be a place of support and guidance. Smh.

District and State are optional items listed in the list of those who received appointments. So some users are actually voluntarily disclosed them. It is really between two users. I usually don't ask but I am very open to answer either privately or publicly.

I doubt this most valuable user "disappearance" has anything to do with these questions.

Whoa! This thread has seemingly devolved. Sad. I came to the forums just over a year ago and I'm happy I did. DS got his TD at the beginning of March last year. I believe all of us are here for the same reason. Whether an applicant, or the parent/parents of an applicant, we're all seeking information, mutual support, a sense of community and reading tea leaves. Call me naive, but if someone finds a question invasive, they have a choice whether or not to answer it. I'm sorry also that a member of the forum group was victimized by someone with malicious intentions, such a valuable resource on many levels.

I'm an old Marine and I find it ironic that on the self-reporting/updating thread of those that have received an appointment many have posted their nomination source and district. This is true for all the SA self-reporting threads. In a few months, DS will have his picture and name posted on our MOC's newsletter, obviousl announcing the nom source and district for everyone to see. Parents, like me, are looking for information and any thread of hope that their child will be rewarded with what they seek.

Maybe moderators of the forums can outline some rules, but then again, maybe if someone is asked information they're not comfortable with, they can choose to not answer. I'm happy I found these forums, grateful. It lead us where we are today, which is entirely different than this time last year.

BTW, for those of you receiving the TD, I'm sorry, some of us know how you feel, but it's not over unless you choose it to be. The answers and options are here.
