Portal vs BFE

Typically which do you get first? A BFE in the mail or a portal update from USMA. Also how long is the time frame in between?

You didn’t receive a MOC call before all of this? I thought that was intended as your original announcement of appointment. Congratulations though, I hope to join you if I get appointed.

Mine was farther away in California. No MOC call and BFE came before portal change

MOCs have the option to call before any BFE or update...but they don't always call.

My son's RC told him, then the portal changed a day or so later, then mail came several days later. I think RCs each do things a bit different. My son never got a call from MOC.

I live in the Midwest. Portal updated 3 days before BFE came. Got to accept my offer before my packet came

However, the portal had been down a day or two before the BFE. That could explain why I got the BFE before portal.

DS experience - MOC call Tuesday, Portal Saturday afternoon/Sunday morning, BFE arrived following Wednesday.

DS's experience... MOC call Thursday, portal down all weekend, Portal update Monday morning, BFE Monday afternoon. I think there are too many variables to make any guesses.

No I did get the call from my MOC first, just saying that my BFE came before my portal was updated. And thanks, good luck!

Our DS received the call last Thursday. The person said to expect the BFE in 2-3 days. The portal was updated on Sunday and he accepted. One week later and he is still waiting for the BFE. Receiving that, to him, makes it “official “.

Same for my DD except BFE came today. There is something about that certificate that says "On behalf of the President of the United States..." that makes it feel special.
