I am interested in my DD obtaining a Power of Attorney so that I would be able to take care of her financial affairs should she be unable to. Can anyone advise if the Air Force requires any specific language that is needed? How would I get this document filed with the AFA? Thanks

It is a very specific POA. The AF generally does not like their military members to give banking POAs to anyone. This is because they have seen military members bank accounts drained by those that have a POA. It is probably easier just to have her give you any pertinent info. Plus, I can't see why you would need to step in for years until she is ADAF and deployed.

What about a health care proxy?

Spoke to the Parents' Liaison who advised the following: Call AFA Legal @ (719) 333-3940 to get specifics. She can do it here for no charge at our legal department. I don't need to be here. Legal should be able to give her all the information needed. We don't keep any power of attorney records here. Your daughter would have to keep an original and then I suggest you get an original for yourself as well. It is up to each individual to keep their legal documents. It may have to be updated every year.

Just make sure it is not a general power of attorney because that will not allow you to do anything that is connected to her pay or banking. Typically POAs are good for a year, or at least it was when Bullet was ADAF.

As for health care, you would be her next of kin.
