Questions, Chatter, Congrats for the 2026 USAFA Appointment Thread

It's not difficult for them to join SAF and self-report, just sayin'...
I've sent them the SAF many times and most started following the appointment thread once they knew it was an option. However there was many of them who didn't want to know what's going on.

I actually started some nerves by letting them know about the first NWP being on the list. Even with acceptance in hand, for them it's easier not to have username and not to be involved. They have no problem with me reporting what state and the information I gave but for their sake they don't want to join.

I personally love hearing others worries, excitements and other advice, but as I've gone along I find many don't. It's like those who talk at the start line of race ( cough me), the outcome will probably be the same but it make people more nervous even if it's their teammate trying to calm their worries. For alot of people they prefer to see what come than being warned or helped before hand. I respect their thought process and always remind them we have welcoming community for worries or situations that may occur.

Your leadership reminds me of a current Doolie from my DS's NWP class. You'll do great things.

Has any Active Duty Airman received an appointment yet?

I have yet to see a LEAD appointment reported. Here is a table displaying the date of the first LEAD appointment over the last 9 years.

ClassAppt date for first LEAD appt reported to the forum
202517 March
202413 February
20238 March
20228 March
2021(none reported)
202018 March
201930 January
201826 February
201714 November (but then the next reported one was 10 May)

Does anyone know how LEAD appointed Airman normally hear they have received an appointment? Is it told by their commander or through the portal?

It should appear in the portal regardless of what type of applicant you are, (direct, falcon scholar, enlisted, other)

FlyFalcon! Congrats on your appointment!! So happy for your and all of the Falcon Scholars. I particularly remember you from last year when the appointments came through and I'm glad to see your perseverance and appointment for 2026's class!! Soak it in, enjoy these next few months with your family and friends!

I dont disagree, but why do you think so?
I know nothing. But based on past years it seems that most appointments start rolling in during March. So I am assuming within a few weeks there should be a wave of appointments. But then again, it is just a guess - or rather a hope lol

Aww you guys are so sweet. USAFA has always been a dream for me ( yes the bad parts too). I always wanted to serve so bad and help those I can. I wanted to do it in the best way possible and I knew USAFA was a stepping stone. I remember praying about twice a day going "if it's in the plans please please send a sign or give me patience" I think he got tired of me asking and sent me the scholarship 🤣.

My family is freaking out. My dad keeps secretly order USAFA gear in my name so I open it and go wait a minute DAD. I think everyone in the continental US knows I got accepted with how many people he's telling ❤️.

You all have helped me a ton. Whether it's horribly wonderful dad jokes, staying up to date on USAFA news or words of encouragement. I love the community here. Especially love seeing those I know well keep popping up every thread because they care about responding each time
Or the ones who have been on for tens year but randomly choose today to bless us with their presence. So thank you to everyone here. Don't worry though, I don't plan on going anywhere (well except when my phone gets taken for basic). I can't wait to reply as a cadet and say "yep it sucks but it was awesome!"

Time fly high fighting falcons!

This was my thought as well. Just wondered if you had insider info :)

Now there are chimneys at USAFA emitting vigorous puffs of white smoke!

Habemus appointments! (I will leave it to our resident Latin scholars to supply the appropriate Latin term for “appointments.”)
Oh my goodness, this made my day as all I could think of was habemus papam and how admissions would be in there like the college of cardinals until they have their "new pope" or appointments I mean 😂🤣
So thank you for the little giggle and habemus institutiones!!!

Would appointment be constitutum? But maybe that makes appointment into more of a senatorial decree?

I believe that's an arrangement or agreement, if I remember correctly. But either of those works as well 😉
