Our kid opened his decision letter in the portal. He's in and he accepted! USAFA '26!

If you don't mind me asking, what day did he originally receive the notification? Maybe it's dated in his letter. Congratulations!

Congrats to him and the entire family. I did not want to spoil the suspense, but when they receive that notification, the decision is to accept or not. I hated for y'all their was angst around it. I hope you get to celebrate and enjoy. All the Best! Go Air Force!

They do the same notification if I’m not mistaken. From my understanding from previous comments on the forum, there will be an envelope that pops up. Once you click “verify decision” (or whatever the wording may be), it will let you know if you’ve been appointed or declined.

Historically, an email is sent out with a thank you for applying, but you did not get in this year. I believe followed up by the same letter via snail mail. Also known as the TWE (thin white envelope). Things have changed slightly with the new portal, so timing may be a slightly different. I do find it interesting candidates are not recieving emails from admissions to check their portal once an appointment has been offered. I am guessing they are still working through SFDC functionality.

I just can’t believe it’s already March. If everything stays on time then the majority of appointments drop in about a week or two. That is crazy.

Oh, my! I just opened the pdf our son emailed to us to check the date. It's dated Feb. 19th! He never checked his portal constantly because he didn't want to worry. I'm not sure when it was uploaded into his portal. If it makes a difference, he applied very early when the application initially opened last year. It took approximately 4 months to complete his medical waivers. It was a long, sometimes difficult process, but so worth it. We're so proud of him.

Go to the class of 2026 appointment thread. How I do it is I quote the previous comment with the updated list. Unquote it so you can edit it, then fill in the table and add another line for the next person.

If you need help try it out first and if you mess a part up we're happy to fix it. If you don't feel comfortable doing so go look at the appointment thread and just post the information as is. I'll be happy to update it with said information into the table.

That’s why I was asking what district. We’re VA too, but it varies widely by district.

I'm from VA-08 which is really hard so I had no joy there. Both Senators rejected me (although they did state their offices had me in the final pool of applicants). So the only nomination I was able to receive was a Presidential.

We’re VA-06 so not as competitive but still tough. DD got the congressional nom from Cline.

I would believe it. Virginia in general is a very tough state to get nominations from.
