Questions, Chatter, Congrats for the 2026 USAFA Appointment Thread

TWE for my son as well. He accepted USMMA so he will be there on July 8th and hopefully will meet a few from these forum. This journey started many years ago and the application ride started probably one year ago. Crazy times. Good luck to all of you ladies and gentlemen in whatever you do. From my heart I wish you all the very best
KP it is!

Good luck for all of those who will be pursuing their dreams on an unexpected path. I have not received a TWE today…. does anyone know what that means? Does it mean prep or academy appointment? Thank you.
My understanding, and I think someone mentioned this a while back, is if you didn’t get a TWE today, you are someone they are very on the fence about (in a good way). They are probably trying to hold out and see is anyone declined their appointment from the April 18th wave, and may offer a very select few spots after that.

DS just got his TWE…gotta love his determination. Plan A is a go…reapply while getting after plan B, ROTC. Too soon to start “Questions, Chatter, Congrats for the 2027 USAFA Appointment Thread”? Good luck to everyone’s alternative plans…looking forward to doing this all again!

What does TWE stand for?
Thin White Envelope. It essentially is code for a rejection/non-selection letter. It comes in a much smaller envelope than the BFE (Big Fat Envelope) which is mailed to candidates that have been appointed to the academy.

So when people say they got TWE, do they mean that they physically got the letter? Or their portals updated for the rejection and are waiting for it in the mail?

Same w DS and USNA but i think he was already settled w USNA but we dont ask him as he is very happy w USNA

Best of luck to your DD
Yes, originally DD’s first choice was USAFA but once she was accepted to USMA and big sister had just graduated last May she started to gravitate towards USMA and then ultimately accepted.
Can’t go wrong with any of the academies and ROTC.
